What Bob Jones really thought about Michael Jackson

February 11, 2012

Our comments section is quickly turning into a forum where a lot of valuable things eventually get lost due to the impossibility to find them. I’ve decided to overturn this tendency and start posting the most interesting comments as separate pieces. These will be mere improvisations as you understand as there is no time to do proper research on the subject.

The first contribution is from Rockforeveron  who found a  great article about what BOB JONES, Michael Jackson’s publicist, really thought about his employer.

The article is too valuable to be forgotten. It was written on September 2, 1993 or at the time when the Chandler allegations broke out.

As Rockforeveron rightfully notes,

  • “to say he praised Michael Jackson is an understatement. He said MJ was chosen by God….

Here it is:

BOB JONES: The Man Who Stands Firmly Behind the Man in the Mirror

Los Angeles Sentinel

9/2/93

By CAROLYN BINGHAM

Entertainment Editor

Do you believe in prophesy? I do. Now more than ever. Everyone is party to the fate that has befallen the legendary Michael Jackson recently, but no one, but perhaps Michael himself, feels it more than Bob Jones, vice president, MJJ Productions, Michael’s right arm.

This didn’t start out to be a piece in defense of the famous pop icon, nor when the interview was taped, were either Bob Jones or myself aware of the charges that would soon be leveled against the young superstar. We talked Wednesday, Aug. 18, three days prior to Jones accompanying Jackson on his now infamous world tour.

It started out to be a “what’s he really like” piece, but in light of recent events rearing their ugly head, I felt the public had a right to know Jones’ foreboding. He was a frightened man, but not in the way you’d suspect. Uncannily, although most probably, his fears were realized when he himself was least undupable. But herein lies Jones’ prophetic statements which in my naïveté, I thought his anxiety unfounded. After all, how could you stop the wake of Michael Jackson. But in his wisdom, he knew the inevitable. A curse came with Michael’s kind of stardom. A curse where he was damned if he did, and damned if he didn’t.

In a roundabout fashion, Jones took me back to his first days on the job in Michael’s camp. Prior to that he worked public relations for Motown and prior to that public relations with the famous firm of Rogers and Cowan Public Relations.

“I came to work for Michael in December of 1987 and have not regretted it one bit. And I thought having worked with the Supremes, the Temptations, the Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, the Four Tops–all of those people who were a part of the Motown stable–that I had seen it all. That I had seen everything America had to offer.

“All of a sudden, we went to the first out-of-the-country date. We went to Rome, Italy, and we played the Coliseum in Rome to 55,000 people. We did three nights at 55,000 persons per show. It was mind-boggling. I had never seen anything like this. To see zero blacks there. It was mind boggling, and to see that one black man had drawn all these people in to see this show, I was awe struck. We not only played Rome, we played touring Italy. We went to Paris, France, and the audiences kept growing, and we went to London, England, and played five nights at Wembley Football Stadium at 72,000 persons a show. All coming out to see this one black man. I saw white folks passing out and fainting and all of this sort of stuff, and I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it, and it really frightened me.”

I sat perplexed in Jones’ office by his diffidence, but now I see the farsightedness in his statements. “Because I’m aware and a believer in the system … when you sit back and know that you can take the president and our mayors and our governors and put them all in a stadium together, and you can’t draw 20,000 people, and to see a black man draw these kind of people, I became frightened, because I know how this system operates.”

Now for the prophecy.

“They are frightened. The system becomes frightened if they see a black man with this kind of power, and especially a black man that they don’t have total control over. That they have not given a white woman and who doesn’t have the white babies and the monies going back into the white system. A black man who is basically clean, that they can say nothing about, who neither smokes nor drinks.

“The system is not ready to conceive of this and who ( Michael) is like a pied piper to white youth. Who if he decides to make a statement or take sides in situations, I’m sure the same system would remove. It becomes detrimental to what the system in America, in the world, is all about. Nobody but the Pope has followings like this.”

We go off on another tangent, try to make him crazy. They try to do everything. The system would rather praise Elvis Presley, who we all know was a drug addict. They make every excuse in the world rather than say this man was a drug addict. He died from an OD of drugs. If they could just come back to the same sober fact.

Jones feels Michael is in a league of his own, “He doesn’t deteriorate his body, his health. He’s a clean-liver, and if they could, I’m sure they would–well you read the press reports–they try to make him weird. They find Michael Jackson with a marijuana cigarette, forget all the other stuff, they’d destroy him.

“Anything that the system can’t control, it does not allow to exist. We’re not all of those who have dared challenge the system. I’m a firm believer, we live in a society that is programmed–these people are walking idiots, programmed idiots. That idiot box tells us what to buy, when to go–it’s football time so come watch your television show–and the couch potato goes plop. It’s amazing how man no longer uses his mind to think, and the system is aware and the system knows it. So they take advantage of it. In politics. In everything else.”

Jones intimate alliance with the standout superstar follows Michael Jackson for 30 years. He was there representing James Brown, and that was during the hey day of James Brown, when he had put out such records as ‘Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud,’ and he was the number one black man in America. I began to work on the Motown account. Among the acts that e Jackson Five first debuted their act in Los Angeles. He worked for Rogers and Cowan Public Relations when they were handling all the Motown acts.

“I worked at Rogers and Cowan and learned from some of the best. At that time Rogers and Cowan was had the James Brown account. We had a party one night for James at The Playboy Club when it was on Sunset Boulevard. It was for an artist called Randy Crawford and a group called the De Felise Trio (excuse spelling). They were recording for James Brown’s sub label. “And we had a big press party at the Playboy Club which was from 6 to 9 p.m. At nine o’clock the same night, there was a party that Rogers and was also having at The Daisy Club to introduce a new group called the Jackson Five. So the people came to the party that I had for James, and then about 8:30-8:45, we shut down and everybody rushed over to The Daisy to be there for the debut of this young group that Motown was introducing. And that was the first night that I met The Jacksons and the first night that I saw them perform.

“I was still at Rogers and Cowan at the time, but I worked on The Jackson Five account also. I was covering all their interviews, etc. That was the beginning of my association with The Jacksons, and even though I was working at Rogers and Cowan, I would tour with The Jacksons when they toured on their first tour dates.”

That was the introduction of a lifelong cultivation of friendship between Jones and Michael. Of the juvenile Michael, Jones states, ” Michael was always a devilish little kid. He loved to play games and loved to run in your room and see what you had in there or if you had a beer or something in there because he was gonna go and tell the whole tour about it. He loved to pillow fight. He always loved animals and rodents and things like that. Actually, I don’t like rats and never have, and he had pet snakes, and I don’t like snakes, so he always made it a point to run me around. Rats and snakes, that was enough to get me out of that room and as far away from him as I could.”

You can take sides if you chose to, and everyone has an opinion. I’ve met Michael, and I chose to believe the best about him. I saw his compassion and his loving kindness towards children. Yet, although I chose to believe all things, I know all things are not expedient for me. But Jones has lived with Jackson upwards of 30 years, and if there was an inkling towards misbehavior on Michael’s part, he would have gleaned it, or Michael is a darn good actor at espionage.

In ending this first of a two-part story on Jones’ long association with Michael, and what happens when mega-minds converge, let me end on Jones’ words and Jesus’ and not Michael’s detractors for we’ll all have to wait until the final verdict is in. And then will we even know the thing-in-itself, Jones’ above statements make it abundantly clear, can we ever be really sure? Jones told me, “God has given him some kind of gift, and he ( Michael) believes in sharing that gift. And he realizes that there is something that God has given him that is special, and that is the reason he does and shares with the kids and the youth the way he does.” Truth. God knows. Michael has always let his moderation be known to all men.

And in the immortal words of Jesus, “Let he who is without sin among you, cast the first stone.”

PART 2

One would assume creating a legacy for the eminent Michael Jackson is one easy task. Just sit back and let Michael do his thing. Not so, says Bob Jones, vice president, Communications and Media Relations, MJJ Productions, whose job it is to never let the superstar’s name die in the embers of oblivion, as has been the fate of many that have gone before him.

Bob Jones is mighty in battle for that cause, just as dynamic at what he does as Michael is potent in his performances and songs.

Jones as a dynamo, helps Michael, the diplomat, deal with the rigors of superstardom, while keeping Michael’s name going long after the superstar has ceased and deceased. It is Michael who makes the headlines, but Bob Jones who manufactures them.

Jones says, “There is an important factor that Michael feels. Michael has studied and read about all the legendary performers. He studied their mistakes, and he knows one thing, that if we don’t create a legacy, there will never be one for us. “Because until Natalie sang ‘Unforgettable,’ Nat Cole was forgotten. Sammy Davis–it’s only been four years–and you don’t hear anything. Sammy was the greatest, and he kissed a__ whenever he had to, to try to hold on to make you like him, and even though he was dying of cancer, he had to go out there, work around the world. “Whereas when theirs (whites) go down, they give them a talk show or something, so they won’t have to go through those struggles. There is none of that for us. When those football players come off that field, they either go to a cigarette company, a beer company or a whiskey company. That’s it. Otherwise it’s over. The white boys get announcers on television. There’s a whole new career that’s for them. It’s not for us, and my thing is to try to create a legacy for Michael.”

To date Jones has been successful at Michael’s bequeathal building, albeit even with the fame of Michael, Jones has hit snags in the way to immortalizing Jackson. Jones was able to get the renaming of the auditorium at the school Michael went to, to the Michael Jackson Auditorium. Jones has created awards such as The Boy Scouts coming out with a Michael Jackson Award, BMI Publishing has a Michael Jackson Award, as does Jack the Rapper, “To keep the name going. Because,” Jones says, “if you don’t darling, do you realize the greats that have gone down that have been black. You don’t hear anything about these people. It’s over for us once we are done. And if we don’t place your name on a building or your name somewhere …”

It isn’t an automatic given to assume Jones’ job is cushy. “It isn’t automatic,” he explains to me. “I’m working right now to try to get them to rename the elementary school Michael went to the Michael Jackson School. First they said, you’ve got to be dead. Why do you have to be dead? Your contributions are done while you’re alive.”

Jones also bears the brunt of the trouble with the mural in Hollywood which they have been working towards more than three years. “We started over three years ago with the Hollywood Arts Council. They approached me about doing a mural for Michael Jackson. Then some red necks out of the woods said no we want Orson Wells. Anything but a black man up there on that wall. So it’s that kind of thing. Look, racism is alive and well and festering here in Los Angeles. I don’t fool myself.”

Jones came to inherit his job by a long arduous path. He got into the journalism business while attending USC. There he was a big fan of the late Walter Winchell and Louella Parsons. And he saw all the Hollywood parties going on and wanted to attend them. He started out by writing a column about kids in high school for the California Eagle, and that didn’t last long, and then he moved over to the Herald Dispatch where he was a writer and entertainment editor at the height of that publication. After syndicating his Hollywood column to more than 80 black newspapers, a little down the line he met Bobby Darin, who was quite an entertainer during those early days, he says.

They became fast friends, and that association would lead him to his next job as a publicist for Rogers and Cowan Public Relations. Jones had tried to secure a job at Motown earlier, but he says, “Now mind you, I had applied to Motown before going to Rogers and Cowan, and as typical of what we sometimes go through, I guess I didn’t qualify until I was accepted by Rogers and Cowan.”

From Rogers and Cowan, Jones went to Motown and thought he would die there. But as fate would have it, Michael Jackson called him one day after the release of “Bad.” Jones skeptical, they met, and Michael asked him what it would take to bring him on board, and Jones told him. Michael only had one stipulation, “He said, ‘you got the job as long as you handle telling Berry Gordy and not have me having any problems with Berry Gordy. We have a good relationship.’ I said Okay,” and Jones proceeded to make the transition from Motown to Michael’s camp.

Jones tells me that Michael was always a very, very inquiring mind, who wanted to know what was going on and who wanted to delve deeper of how things worked. “Perhaps,” he says, “a great degree of his success today is based on the fact that he had an inquiring mind, and he wanted to know and he wanted to explore and find out what was going on above and beyond his brothers.”

The Michael Jackson mystique and mania, Jones says he thinks is food to Michael Michael’s ego. “It’s soothing to know that God has given him this kind of a strength, and he doesn’t misuse or abuse it in the wrong manner.” Jones tells me of firings when people on Michael’s staff take advantage of the fans. Jackson doesn’t tolerate it.

Jones credits Michael Michael’s mother for much of the talent that Michael absorbed. “They don’t give his mother enough credit. They didn’t have a television during those early years back in Indiana, and they lived in what amounted to a box. And the mother liked country music. They’d have hootenannies and sing, because it was the way they entertained themselves, and that was what brought them along and developed this great thing. At least there was a togetherness. That everybody participated. I think it was the beginning of the end of that togetherness within the family.”

Jones says Michael is very close with his mother and tries to be close with his family, but it becomes difficult. “It becomes very difficult,” Jones emphasizes.

When I ask Jones is Michael a shrew businessman? he replies, “He’s a kid at heart, but he knows what he wants, and I have the good fortune that he knows me over the years. I don’t have to be a hand-holder.” He goes on to say that Michael doesn’t like entourages, and Michael’s very private. Jackson wants to be by himself.

Jones find himself being the bull fighter in Michael’s arena. Jones fought to have the Oprah Winfrey interview advertised in Ebony and Jet and on BET. During those face-offs, Jones found himself saying, “Wait a minute, let’s back up. Oprah may not care, but that’s the reason I’m here. I care. And it’s most important. Michael Jackson is black, first and foremost.”

Besides acquiring certain properties for Michael’s private collection and handling all facets of the awards shows, it is Jones who goes to the black book stores and buys hundreds of black books at a time so that Michael knows who the black inventors are, so he knows who the black composers are.

“He has been educated about his people,” Jones says, “Those things are important, because if you don’t know where you came from and who you are, you don’t know where you’re going.  And he knows, and he tells me all the time, ‘Bob don’t give up. Never give up, never say no,’ he says. ‘That’s what the system wants you to do is to say no and give up.’ And he says, ‘I never give up. I never disbelieve that it can’t happen.’” Jones says he has been around the entertainment industry for 40 years, but Jackson has taught him things, “and it causes me to continue to grow.”

Of Michael and Jones’ activities on his behalf, Jones states, “He’s a gentle … one of the nicest–he doesn’t use curse words. It’s like, because when I know what a dog-eat-dog world it is out here, thank God that he has me and a few others like me to fight off the lechers, because there there, and I’m able to become that alter ego and say go to hell. Because you won’t believe the propositions that come here.

“He is truly the nicest, and if there is anything such as being God-like, he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t drink, he doesn’t believe in thinking bad thoughts. That’s why I am suspicious of most of them who come through here, because everybody has an agenda, and it’s either to get over or something, and we live in a society of that.

The society we live in is ruthless, and it’s all the buck and nothing else, and that’s what America’s become. When I look at him ( Michael) I say, ‘It’s good that God chose you.’ That’s the way I look at it. It’s good that God chose you.”

Let us not be swayed by the well-known story that Bob Jones grew terribly angry and revengeful when he was fired by Randy Jackson  in 2004.  Sending a letter with a photocopy of Michael’s signature on it and without an explanation too, after Bob Jones’s 17 years of working for Michael, was indeed not the politest and cleverest thing to do.

ABC News: “Jones was not the prosecution’s strongest witness, as he initially said he did not remember seeing the entertainer lick a boy’s head during a flight from Paris to Los Angeles in the early 1990s. “I turned around in first class on this United Airlines flight, and there they were, arm-in-arm, in a plane full of people. Perception-wise, it bothered me.”

Bob Jones didn’t conceal his fury for MJ as numerous articles of the period show it. However we do not even know whether it was Michael who took the decision to fire him (he had other matters on his mind on the eve of the 2005 trial) or whether the dismissal was Randy Jackson’s own and a little too clumsy attempt to cut on the expenses to afford the lawyers.

The Guardian says it pointblank that Bob Jones wrote his (dreadful) book because he was pissed off and broke – which made him seek revenge:

September 9, 2005

Jones wrote the book, he says, because he was pissed off.  And broke. Principally broke. For, while he never signed a confidentiality clause, an alarming oversight on the part of Jackson and his managers, Jones’s goodbye after 24 years working on and off for Jackson came at the hands of a messenger.

A note bearing the photocopied signature of Jackson was handed to Jones. “Your services have been appreciated,” it read. “We’re going in a different direction, we no longer need you, good luck in your future.”

Jones was left with no income and no pension, not even the holiday pay he was owed. But he took care of that.

“I do feel that I was owed a bit more than to have to go to the state of California to get my vacation pay,” he says.

However what Bob Jones seemed most angry about was that Michael’s legacy (the way he understood it)  was thrown away into a dustbin  despite him “working on it” for 17 years.  Jones said he warned him that his life-style was doing him irreparable damage, but Michael totally disregarded this danger (I am not surprised – he knew he was innocent and didn’t want to adjust to someone else’s dirty thoughts).

It looks like Bob Jones was most frustrated by the uselessness of his efforts, and even though he said pretty nasty things about Michael the Guardian journalist noted that  Bob Jones still retained a “fierce loyalty” to Michael Jackson and was embarassed by what he was saying about him in the book:

In 1987, Jackson asked Jones to take over the singer’s PR. Jones agreed, signing a two-year contract which was left to run for nearly 17 years.

It wasn’t until 1989 and the European leg of the Bad tour that Jones realised there was something genuinely untoward about the singer. “We were in Paris and we’re going to the Louvre and the paparazzi is there on motorbikes following,” says Jones. “We got to the Louvre and he got out of a bus hand-holding one of these little boys.”

Alarmed at the implications for Jackson’s image, Jones challenged the singer, to be told that he didn’t care.

“I told his manager, I said you’re going to get into trouble, this can’t happen. And I also told the attorneys and the business manager. These attorneys and the manager making all this money, I guess they thought I was some kind of fool trying to buck the system.”

Jones seems wary and angry, a little embarrassed at the indignity of doing the promotional rounds for a book trashing the man he spent most of his working life defending.

Despite the sense of grievance, there is still a fierce loyalty to Jackson, or at least to the notion of what Jackson might have been.

“Michael’s bigger than Elvis Presley. Elvis didn’t write any music,” he says. “Elvis sang and did what the Colonel [Parker] told him to do. He is the biggest thing black that the world has ever known. We were received by kings and queens as a head of state. And then, all of a sudden, allegations.”

Despite all his work to create a myth as the Peter Pan King of Pop, says Jones, people will only remember Michael Jackson for one thing. “He damaged whatever legacy he has. When people think of him now, they think of molestation.”

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2005/sep/09/michaeljacksontrial.popandrock

Frankly, to me it sounds more like sadness that Michael allowed  the “system” to which he referred to in 1993, to ruin him. He evidently thought that it was Michael’s recklessness which landed him in all this trouble – which is absolutely wrong.  If Bob Jones was right about the “system” they would have found a way to ruin him anyway – even if he had lived up to all their formal standards and had never given them any pretext.

However Bob Jones’ s words backfired at him. Now he will also be remembered not only for his beautiful and sincere words said about Michael in the midst of the 1993 allegations, but for the damaging role he played in his life as a disgruntled former employee…

I’ve also found this quote about Michael Jackson’s reaction to Bob Jones’s book which, as I am told, is attributed to Stacey Brown:

“In October of 2005, Michael and Tom Messereau went over the book in London and Michael later reached out to Bob and expressed that while he didn’t like the book, he didn’t think it was too big a deal and understood that Bob needed money”.

 http://acoupleofthoughs.blogspot.com/2011/06/stacy-brown-weird-jackson-family-friend.html

Though Stacey Brown is far from being trustworthy, forgiveness of other people was an inherent part of Michael’s nature, so I tend to think that these words are true. And if so, it means that Bob Jones WAS right when he said about Michael (and himself):

  •  “He is truly the nicest, and if there is anything such as being God-like … he doesn’t believe in thinking bad thoughts.
The society we live in is ruthless, and it’s all the buck and nothing else, and that’s what America’s become.
When I look at  Michael I say,  ‘It’s good that God chose you.’  That’s the way I look at it.  It’s good that God chose you.”

@Angie–Michael was a great artist and to me whether he used the word that you are so concerned about is of supreme unimportance. Do you actually know anything about him and his relationship with Black people and his own Black heritage? Do you know he visited Afruca a number of times, gave $60 million to stop starvation in Africa, and was good friends with Nelson Mandela? Do you know he had a large collection of Black History books in his library at Neverland, which had 10,000 volumes? Please move on to other areas of more importance and stop wasting your own and others’ time.

    @Rodrigo

“Part of the reason Desiree hates Michael is because she believes he hated his black heritage and blacks in general…just sayin.”

I actually think Desiree just pretends to hate Michael because she believes he hated his black heritage i mean she dismisses all evidence related to MJ having Vitiligo etc..

She doesn’t seem like someone who genuinely believes he hated black people her hatred for MJ is deeper than that i bet she believes Michael was a pedophile just because SHE believes he turned his back on black people despite evidence proving her what she thinks to be bogus, It’s like when someone believes Michael was a pedo just because he had plastic surgery or they just simply didn’t like the way he looked.

There is evidence proving her wrong about Michael and black people yet she fully ignores this I ask why? If it was someone who was genuinely concerned about Michael’s relationship with his black heritage they would be convinced by now with all the facts. The fact is she does NOT want to find out the truth she rather stick to her twisted fiction thoughts instead of facing the truth perhaps she is reflecting her own self hatred on to MJ she needs to think this famous black man hated his race in order to not feel alone with her feeling and be insecure about herself.

You said: It is Gutierrez, Diamond, and their ilk who attribute this word to Michael. You did the same. Why?

I’m not doing the same. That’s why I came here for advice. This site seemed like a good site with it’s name ‘Vindicating Michael Jackson’. I was sure that this site would have a good answer whether or not MJ called blacks “Splaboos” sense the site does say ‘Vindicating Michael Jackson’, but I guess not. I’m only asking a question, not coming to a conclusion like Gutierrez, Diamond, so stop saying that I’m doing what Gutierrez, Diamond did. My comments here are clearly questionable. I did express my doubts that MJ called blacks “Splaboos”, but I always ended up with “I will never know the truth unless someone who worked with MJ, or a close friend, or a relative of MJ will tell whether MJ called blacks “Splaboos”.

Also knowing MJ called his brother Randy an ‘ugly ape’ at the timiing of 2:33, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoszPv5mwCs

What do you think of that?

Hi Helena, you have a much better tone now, lol 🙂 There’s one more thing. Did you read in Bob Jones book where he said the word “Splaboo” means ni**ger? Because I read a part of the book online and all Bob says is that MJ had a nickname for blacks, “Splaboos”, but never gave the meaning of the word. So did you read in Bob Jones book where he said the word “Splaboo” means ni**ger?

    – “MJ is known for nicknames like “Rubba”, “Applehead” in whom he called his son Prince, “Duck Butter”, etc.”- Angie
    – “Angie, dear, Michael never called “Duck Butter” either Prince or anyone at all” – VMJ

The above is what you said and what I replied to you. Now that I see that comma after Prince I think that you probably meant Applehead for Prince and not the other name. English punctuation has never been my strong point – sorry for misinterpreting if I did.

Anyway Rubba and Applehead have nothing to do with the last word. Before putting them in one row you should have done your homework. Then you would have known that Michael never used it and never gave this nickname to anyone at all.

It is Gutierrez, Dimond, and their ilk who attribute this word to Michael. You did the same. Why?

    You said:

But “Duckbutter” has a meaning of its own. It is even part of the Urban dictionary which I have to look up to explain its meaning to the lazy you. It is a very bad word and claiming that Michael could have used it in respect of his son Prince is actually a grave insult to Michael. The word was used by the worst Michael’s haters and is actually part of the media myth about Jackson.

So please stop making innocent eyes saying that you don’t know what you are talking of. If you do not know – go and look for yourself first instead of spamming this blog with your ignorant questions. At the moment you treat me like someone who is sent out on errands to go and check up various things for you. Please don’t do it again. All of us here are supposed to be doing some research, including you.

I’m not making innocent eyes, and I’m not lazy. You’re being extremely rude to be running a MJ vindicating site. What are you so angry about? What have I ever done to you to speak so rude and disrespectful towards me? I didn’t know what “Duckbutter” meant until you gave me the definition. How are you going to tell me what I know. Beisides, I never said “Duckbutter” didn’t have a definiton, I said I didn’t know the meaning of the word. I dare you to find anywhere in my comments where I said ‘Duckbutter’ doesn’t have a definition, you won’t be able to because you’re lying on me. And you’re lying on me for saying that I said MJ called Prince ‘Duckbutter’. In my pass comments I said MJ is known for nicknames such as Duckbutter, Applehead in whom he called his son Prince, etc. My comment clearly said MJ called Prince ‘Applehead’, not ‘Duckbutter’ and you know it, you just want to keep up confusion with me for no apparent reason. I dare you to copy and paste my comment to me where I said MJ called Prince “Duckbutter”, I bit you can’t, all you’ll get is me saying MJ called Prince “Applehead”. Never did I say that MJ called Prince ‘Duckbutter’, and you know you’re lying. It seems to me you just want to bring that word up for whatever reason. You really need to change your ways, because it makes you and your site look bad.

“I will continue to believe that MJ called blacks “Splaboos” unless someone else who worked for MJ, or was a close friend of MJ, or a relative of MJ who can confirm MJ never called blacks “Splaboos”.” – Angie

Believe whatever you like, Angie. If some blacks around Michael deserved this word there is nothing wrong about it. I also have some words for some of my countrymen, but it doesn’t make me less of a Russian. Moreover it may even be a sign that I care and want some of my countrymen to be better than they are. Probably Michael also wanted some blacks to be better than they are.

What we can be sure of is that Michael never used this word in connection with his mother who was definitely not a ‘splaboo’ (whatever it means), or towards Bill Bray whom he loved so much that he remained on his payroll for many years even after he stopped working for Michael, or towards his bodyguard Amir whom he even called his brother. In short he never used this word for those who did not deserve it.

If Bob Jones did deserve it, so be it.

“Just because I’m aware with the names MJ used like “Rubba” and “Applehead” I don’t know what they mean, just as I didn’t know what “Duckbutter” meant. You’re actually giving me the definitons to all these words, lol.”

Angie, there is a very big difference between “Rubba”, “Applehead” and this “Duckbutter”.

The first two were used by Michael while Duckbutter never was.
The first two were some chance nicknames – someone said them and they just stuck. These words have no meaning of their own.

But “Duckbutter” has a meaning of its own. It is even part of the Urban dictionary which I had to look up to explain its meaning to the lazy you. It is a very bad word and claiming that Michael could have used it in respect of his son Prince is actually a grave insult to Michael – which you actually did, either deliberately or due to your ignorance. This word was used by the worst Michael’s haters and is part of the media myth about Jackson.

“He had nicknames for everything…so who’s to say that someone like Bob Jones didn’t create that himself? Or anybody else on the staff? Everybody has done it with Michael…”

Rodrigo, exactly. Frankly, I don’t understand why people talk about it so much. Especially since we don’t even know what it means. Okay, even if it means something bad and even if Michael did use it, he didn’t apply it to all black people – no one ever heard it from him except Bob Jones.

Michael could have used it for Stacey Brown, for example, and though I don’t know what ‘splaboo’ means Stacey Brown looks like one to me, just from the sound of it. Michael was not obliged to like all black people, same as I am not obliged to like all Russians. And many blacks did let Michael down – Stacey Brown, Bob Jones, Carl Douglas to name only a few. Was Michael obliged to like them for the sole reason that they were black?

Part of the reason Desiree hates Michael is because she believes he hated his black heritage and blacks in general…just sayin.

If Michael DID call black people ‘splaboo’s’, then what can we do about it? Nobody’s perfect, not even Michael.

    He had nicknames for everything.

And people close to him knew that…so who’s to say that someone like Bob Jones didn’t create that himself? Or anybody else on the staff? We know people out there make up things, and they have to use whatever they can about the target in order to make it sound authentic. Everybody has done it with Michael…so who’s to say somebody hasn’t made the word up theirselves, or changed the meaning of it to make Michael sound bad? And wasn’t it coming from the people who had nothing but shit to say about him, even though they’ve had their lies exposed…how convenient.

Thanks for the article. But I don’t see the article being beneficial of MJ not calling blacks ‘Splaboos”. This is what the article says:

(The affidavit also provides many details about Michael Jackson’s skin condition and confirms what Gutierrez says the maid Blanca Francia told him. According to the affidavit, “Jackson told Ms. Francia that he bleaches his skin because he does not like being black and he feels that blacks are not liked as much as people of other races.” Others told me that Jackson had special names for blacks, including “spabooks.”)

The article is saying that Blanca Francia has been told that MJ had special names for blacks, including “Spabooks”. So with that said ‘lynande51’ Blanca did not come up with the name ‘Splaboos”, she said she has heard from others that MJ called blacks “spabooks”.

I also don’t like how she said MJ believes blacks are not liked as much as people of other races, that sounds very much like Michael. Blanca worked for MJ, so I don’t know if it’s not true.I will continue to believe that MJ called blacks “Splaboos” unless someone else who worked for MJ, or was a close friend of MJ, or a relative of MJ who can confirm MJ never called blacks “Splaboos”.

What makes me believe MJ called blacks “Splaboos”, is because he’s known for nicknames, such as “Rubba”. “Applehead”, whom he called his son Prince. “Dunk”, whoM he called his sister Janet. And worst of all which I just found out today while looking at Youtube, MJ called his brother Randy an “ugly ape” at the timing of 2:33, which is a racial slur, here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoszPv5mwCs

This is why I beieve MJ called blacks “Splaboos”. If he can call his own brother Randy an “ugly ape” which is a very racial slur that whites call blacks all the time, even today, he most certainly called blacks “Splaboos”. Bob Jones was right. His book may not be completely true, but I believe not everything he said was a lie, there was some truth in it, and part of that truth was MJ callling blacks “Splaboos”. MJ called blacks “Splaboos” and his brother an “ugly ape” whiich are very racial slur. I think it’s very sad.

    Now do you believe me?

Anyway, what I find funny is now I see your name, the person I’m replying to which says: Leave a Reply to lynande51. Angie. Bob Jones and Stacy Brown got that word from Maureen Orth who got it from Victor Gutierrez. Michael never used the word it was made up by Victor given to Orth and Brown and Jones plagiarized it from her article. The article was published in April of 2003. The book was published in 2005. She even tells you where she heard the word so you know the origins. Here is a link to the article by Orth and it is on page 4.

I never said MJ called Bob Jones a “Splaboo”, did you read in my comment that I said MJ called Bob a “Slpaboo”? No. I said Bob wittnessed MJ calling blacks “Splaboos”, and it was his favorite word to use for black people. MJ would use the word “Splaboo” all the time, especially around Macaulay Culkin, is what I said. And I think it’s very sad. By the way Bob Jones is black, and was MJ’s PR Manager for years.

How did Bob Jones know Michael used this word with Macaulay Culkin? Why didn’t Kit Culkin mention this at any point?

If it was his favorite word, why has nobody else ever said he used it?

He used it all the time, just not when anyone besides Bob, a black man, could hear? Why would Michael be stupid enough to use that word around a black man like Bob? Did he not use it with the biracial Jordan Chandler?

I think your obsession with defending the idea he used this word is very sad.

Yes she did. I can’t believe she’s denying it. She may have forgot, who knows. She made that comment on March 3, 2011. Here’s here comment beginning with her saying MJ called Jack Gordon a “Splaboo”:

I was talking about something he says on the Glenda tapes, you have intentionally misquoted me, I have never said Michael used the word splaboo – you can go listen to the Glenda tapes, which I was talking about, and see where he uses that word. In that whole quote you posted there isn’t a single instance where I say he used that word for Gordon or anyone else.

What I think is funny is that he uses that word for Jack Gordon – a white guy.

And are you serious about Bob Jones not being a liar? Do you not know what he did to Michael in 2005 when this book was being written and published? What he said was so bad that he and his co-author were put on the stand where they admitted to lying:

    Cross-examination of BOB JONES (April 11 2005)

25 Q. And then you were asked, “Um, did you see
26 Mr. Jackson engage in any head licking of anybody?”
27 And your answer was, “Never.” Remember that?
    28 A. I recall.

    …….

3 Q. And you told the prosecutor you had written
4 the words at the bottom of the page that refer to
    5 licking, right?
    6 A. Uh-huh.
7 Q. And is it your testimony that you have not
8 approved the accuracy of that statement?
    9 A. That is correct.

    ……….

4 Q. And would you agree when you’re working with
    5 a co-writer and a publisher to prepare a book about
6 Michael Jackson, there’s pressure to make things
7 sensational when you can, right?
    8 A. Yes.

    10 that can sell, correct?
11 A. My co-writer [STACEY BROWN]. The publisher wasn’t involved
12 in that particular end of it.

    …………

13 Q. Okay. And do you then typically correct or
14 change what you think is either inaccurate or
    15 inappropriate?

    17 were inaccurate that I didn’t say

I’m actually writing up a piece about Stacy Brown now, that guy is a piece of work. Both of them were, actually. Even someone who knew Jordan Chandler and was actually on the Mesereau witness list against Jordie has spoken out against what scuzzbuckets Stacy/Bob were.

And I’m not too sure about the company of blacks things – you know, considering at the time Bob Jones was working for him for almost 30 years and was black, his PR agent Raymone was black, his security guards were the NOI, his children’s nanny was African, and now we find out his chef was black, his doctor was black, in the last few years he’d spent time hanging out with Chris Tucker, WilIAm, Akon, DJ Whoo Kidd, Lionel Richie… etc. For someone who wants to diassociate with black people and finds them so awful he sure went out of his way to keep them close to him his entire life.

But hey, if you find Bob Jones credible, then best of luck to you.

Jordan claimed Michael tried putting him off women, and that he hated them. Of course that had to be said.

I remember reading the ‘no wenches, bitches’ thing in Taraborrelli’s book, that June was supposed to have found a note to Jordan from Michael about wishes.

    1. No wenches, bitches, heifers or ho’s-(Jordan claimed the above to Gardener)
    2. Never give up your bliss-(Doesn’t make sense considering Michael had already started the abuse according to them)
    3. Live with me in Neverland forever-(Michael had the opportunity to live with the family, but declined, so much for being in love with the kid and all)
    4. No conditioning-(Again, Jordan’s explanation to Gardener of what Michael said, the meaning of it has changed)
    5. Never grow up-(They alleged Michael cried at the thought of Jordan growing up and leaving him)
    6. Be better than best friends-(This seems to be mixing in Michael declaring that the family are his family, and that Jordan was his cousin. Could also be alluding subtlety to something sexual. But the entire thing hints to that theory, which is in the background. So people are thinking Michael was influencing and seducing the kid with this alleged note…which is EXACTLY what Evan said and thought to people.

All of it revolves around the situation in their own words. Laying it on a bit too thick. There is nothing organic with the Chandler’s words… ALL of it seems to be based around some kind of story. Too much melodrama.

You know that Bob Jones himself admitted in an interview with the Irish Times that he was the source of the “leaks” that started Michael’s problem with the tabloid press.
Jones took credit for calling Michael the King of Pop, Rock and Soul (we all know that it was Elizabeth Taylor that coined him that). He said that he saw Michael as a ” mad genius” and created that persona to add mystery to Michael’s image.
The reason that Jones was fired by Randy Jackson in 2004 was because he had already approached Stacy Brown to write that tell all book. Most of what is in there about the trial was taken from other articles like Orth’s and what he had made up himself.
He should have been fired long before that though because he was the reason that Michael fired Frank Dileo. Michael found out that the tabs were getting information from his side from a show where the Editor in Chief of the Enquirer appeared on Geraldo. He stated on air that Michael was leaking those stories himself. Michael thought it was Frank and yet all along it was his Black Publicist that was doing it. When you read what Jones says it is very obvious that it is Jones that is racist against whites.
Here is a link to an Article in the LA Sentinel that quotes Jones interview in The Irish Times.
    http://www.lasentinel.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6909:bob-jones&catid=79&Itemid=169
And here is the paragraph that is the one I am refering to. I found the original article but it was on my old computer and that showed much more. He was very angry about being fired and he had been planning this book for years and saving articles to quote from in his book.is it no wonder that he in fact plagerized most of his book and they can be traced back tothe original articles. If anyone is to blame for making Michael appear eccentric he is and it was his idea and his intention.

According to the mainstream media, his relationship with MJJ Productions went sour in 2004 and Jackson terminated Jones, via a caustic letter. The parting was acrimonious and it left devastating wounds on both parties. Jones then decided to write a biography about his former employer; it was co-written with Stacy Brown. The book was very unflattering, and to some, the ranting of a disgruntled, ex-employee. Titled, “The Man Behind the Mask,” Jones’ hoped that his three decades plus relationship with Jackson would give the book credibility and substance. It was promoted as a true insider’s account because of the number of years Jones had spent with Jackson. He reported on Jackson’s “unusual” behavior and reportedly “leaked” stories to make Jackson seem mysterious, such as his sleeping in a pressurized horizontal chamber and his seemingly unusual relationship with Bubbles, the chimpanzee.

I forgot something too. You know that saying that the Chandler’s said the Michael said to all those kids about “No wenches Bitches Heiffers or Ho’s” has always sounded more like a line that might have been from Robin Hood Men In Tights to me. It might have been in the original screenplay but it ended up on the cutting room floor. The word wenches is the give away there. It coincides with the time period of that movie and the rest of it goes with the theme. Doesn’t anyone else see that?

Helena that was a great article about the Rubba’s and the origins and exactly how the media twisted everything including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. If it had anything to do with children it would be twisted to mean something entirely different if Michael showed an interest in it.

“I guess it’s been confirmed that MJ did use the word “Splaboos” because you just said someone from the ‘Lacienegasmiles blog” said MJ used the word “Splaboos” for Jack Gordon. I knew MJ used that word because it seems like his personality. And he’s known for nicknames too, like “Rubba”, “Applehead”, etc. So Bob Jones was right, MJ did call blacks “Splaboos”, that’s so racist and hurtful.” – Angie

First of all it has not been confirmed, as it seems that I quoted someone else and not the blogger herself (sorry for that). And second, unless you know what “splaboo” means you cannot say whether it is derogatory or not. It may be a personality trait or it may be just a nickname with no special meaning to it – like Rubba and Applehead.

No, Rubba and Applehead have no sexual connotations though you probably imply they do. Dirty-minded Diane Dimond told her similarly dirty-minded listeners that Rubba came from “rubbing against a boy”, while the reality had nothing to do with those dirty thoughts. Michael’s friends were disgusted by these insinuations:

Jacko Pal: TV’s Webster Coined ‘Rubbaheads’
    Published May 03, 2004
    FoxNews.com

Much has been made of some kind of secret club Jackson may have had called the “Rubbaheads,” which had typed rules and regulations.
A note to other Rubbaheads was found in the Jackson family storage bin purchased by a man in New Jersey. There’s an implication that because Jackson called some boys “Rubbas,” it connotes any number of unseemly things.

So I asked one of the boys, now grown, about the alleged Rubbahead Club of 10 years ago, when all this happened. He says when he heard about all this a few weeks ago and again yesterday, he was stymied.

“First of all, there was no Rubbahead Club. Rubba was a name Emmanuel Lewis, who played Webster, came up with,” he explained. “Everyone called everyone Rubba. It didn’t mean anything. What we did have was the Applehead Club, and that was from ‘The Three Stooges.’ Everyone was an Applehead because Michael loved ‘The Three Stooges.'”

This was 10 years ago, when a number of well-known 13-year-old boys were coming and going from Neverland. They included Macaulay Culkin, Wade Robson, Lewis, the young man I spoke with and the young man from the Jackson case 10 years ago.

“It’s nothing sexual,” my source continued. “Michael even called one of the younger kids Baby Rubba. It didn’t mean anything.”

So what about the typed list of rules found in the storage bin? They included requiring members to be “idiots and act crazy at all times”; be vegetarians who fast on Sundays and avoid drugs; watch two episodes of “The Three Stooges” daily; know the Peter Pan story by heart; and when seeing another member, “give the peace sign, and then half of it.”

In fact, insists my source, “there were no rules at Neverland. The whole thing was about not having rules and having a good time. It was all from Peter Pan. There was no club, no initiation, and I never heard of a ‘club kit’ or anything else.”

What’s clear about all this is that, when witnesses are called in the Jackson trial next winter, many things will be left to interpretation. What may seem prurient to the public on first impression may turn out to be completely innocent. It will be up to Jackson’s lawyers to help a jury understand that.

Ironically, there was a serious misinterpretation in yesterday’s reports about the meaning of a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow called “The Children’s Hour.” In the poem, the narrator addresses three little girls, not little boys, which was the impression given in the reports.

I was referencing an article that Lyande51 put up..The last page.

    http://www.vanityfair.com/fame/features/2003/04/orth200304
it is from around the time of the Arvizo garbage.
She is dissing MJ about what kind of father he is , back then,
Well, Ron Zonen can try and prop up the Arvizo boys all he wants , but you can see in their pictures , they are still little con artists..
And Evan Chandler left his two younger children for the son with the money.Very bitter.

    A lousy father….

I wonder what all these people have to say now, that Michaels children have spoken so lovingly of him .
They are the legacy he cared most about …And it shows in how they carry themselves.

What’s the quote Orth has about what she thinks Mike’s kids would think about him? .

Prince and Toya are visiting Germany right now and they’ve been to a children’s hospital, and Prince told reporter, “The fact that I had a very happy childhood is clear to me. But I also know that there are many who do not have it as good.”

It must be my mistake. I quoted the text from the comments section of your site, and evidently referred to the quote made by someone else. Actually I’ve spent hours on your wonderful site inspecting every word on those Glenda tapes and didn’t find any “splaboos”. Instead I found something different in those tapes. Hope to write about it.

Lyande51 ..I just skimmed the Vanity Fair article you referenced and the last line of it caught my eye.
Maureen Orth had quoted MJ on his wishes for the children of the world and then listed the supposed mantra, about no wenches etc, JC had talked about
About how he supposedly pitted June and Evan against each other…
Then she brings it back the MJ being a father and wondering what they would think of him when they grow up..
I wonder , looking at that article, it she ever lets herself think, she got it wrong.
Turns out MJ children adored and cherished him and everyone says he was a wonderful father..
Meanwhile Evans ashes are still on a shelf at the funeral home , still , after 3 years,, from what I have read , no service , no nothing from that family.
Evan a pet goldfish that has died , usually ,, gets a better send off then he did ,…,

I know you don’t want to look like a troll by posting the same comments under multiple posts on the blog. Make sure you stay in the same thread over at MJ V 2.0 as well otherwise people over there will think you are just out to cause a problem instead of genuine concerns.

Let me see if I can clear this whole thing up for Angie. The word Splaboos was never spoken by Michael. It was made up by Victor Gutierrez who reported to Maureen Orth that it was Blanca Francia that tokd people he called blacks that. The reason that Maureen Orth said that word was spabooks was because of the way it sounded with his accent. You can find that story here. That part of it is on page four if you want to go directly to it. Then when you realize that Maureen Orth reported it 2 years before the book was written we can talk about something called plagerism.

‘Helena’ I guess it’s been confirmed that MJ did use the word “Splaboos” because you just said someone from the ‘Lacienegasmiles blog” said MJ used the word “Splaboos” for Jack Gordon. I knew MJ used that word because it seems like his personality. And he’s known for nicknames too, like “Rubba”, “Applehead”, etc. So Bob Jones was right, MJ did call blacks “Splaboos”, that’s so racist and hurtful.

By the way Jack Gordon was Latoya Jackson’s husband which is why he called Jack Gordon a “Splaboo” because maybe he was married to a black women, his sister Latoya. This is so sad. Bob maybe lied about somethings in his book but he didn’t lie about MJ calling blacks “Splaboos”. This is terrible, and very sad.

So to make a long explanation short…. Bob Jones wrote it in a book with Stacy Brown. Stacy Brown got it from Maureen Orth and Orth got it from Gutierrez/ Blanca Francia. That tells me that Michael probably never even heard the word before let alone did not use it.

The term Splaboos did not originate with Bob Jones. That term was mistakenly reported by Maureen Orth in her April 2003 article titled Losing His Grip in Vanity Fair as spabooks. She is in fact “quoting” what she was told by Victor Gutierrez and his “source” Blanca Francia. The word itself is not included in the book written by Gutierrez but it is in a deposition that was taken from Blanca Francia in 1994 when she was deposed in the Chandler case.
Blanca Francia is a close associate of Victor Gutierrez. She is seen in photos with him in his book Michael Jackson Was My Lover. Gutierrez was found guilty of slander by a jury and was ordered to pay Michael Jackson $2.7 million dollars but instead filed bankcruptcy and fled to his home country of Chile. The reason that the book could not be published in the US was because of not only the lawsuit but because of the content. It does not matter what people tell you about Gutierrez being sued only for a video. It is the person that is sued for slander not a medium like a book or a video tape. Once he was found guilty of malicious slander he was found guilty of slander. That means that he can be assumed to lie in all things about Michael.

“But is it true that MJ called blacks “Splaboos”? That’s what Bob said MJ did.” – Angie

YES, if you believe Bob Jones’ book and NO, if you don’t believe it. I DO NOT because that book is full of lies. You can ask Macaulay Culkin if you want to know the real truth (and then tell us what he answers you). But what does the word mean?

    P.S.

I’ve looked up some sources. Lacienegasmiles blog contains an interesting comment saying among many other correct things that Michael used the word for Jack Gordon, who was a white guy. Here is the comment:

    8 A. Yes.
9 Q. And your publisher and others want a book
    10 that can sell, correct?
    11 A. My co-writer
[STACEY BROWN]. The publisher wasn’t involved
12 in that particular end of it.
    …………
13 Q. Okay. And do you then typically correct or
14 change what you think is either inaccurate or
    15 inappropriate?
16 A. Oh, I’ve changed millions of things that
    17 were inaccurate that I didn’t say
    ………..
    8 RECROSS-EXAMINATION [of STACY BROWN]
    9 BY MR. MESEREAU:
10 Q. Mr. Brown, what I think the prosecutor just
11 elicited is the following: When he[BOB JONES] was broke, he
12 said there was licking. And when he didn’t have
13 financial problems, he said there wasn’t any, right?
    14 A. Well, if that’s how you –
    15 Q. Right?
    16 A. — break it down, yeah, I guess.

    17 MR. MESEREAU: Thank you.
18 MR. AUCHINCLOSS: No further questions.

He also alleged that Michael was gay, that Michael and Lisa were involved in a sham marriage (pfft, show me the receipts), that MJ was obsessed with little boys (pfft), and he and his co-writer were responsible for circulating malicious lies about MJ on the internet during the close of the jury proceedings.

But hey, if you find Bob Jones credible, then best of luck to you. http://lacienegasmiled.wordpress.com/2009/11/15/glenda-transcript-2-5/

Another great comment in the same blog comes from a black woman:

Well for starters, I am a BLACK WOMAN and we black people say “NIGGA” all the time and we say that when we are either referring to ourselves or just other black people or other people of different races (don’t ask why it is just what some of us do, we are not trying to be racist or anything, but that is just the way it is). So just because Mike says “nigga” does not mean he is being racist cause he for a FACT is not. Nigga in a lot of terms is used as a phrase sometimes, like in another part of the tapes he says “typical nigga” and he was just sayin how he didn’t want to come off like a regular dude or whatever you know. It is just something i guess only us black people understand but i am more than sure other people of different races understand.

My feeling is that the word “splaboo” doesn’t have to do with the color but with the intolerance, ignorance, narrow mindedness and bigoted views of some blacks. It is the same as white people using the word “redneck” in relation to some people of their own race.

When a white person uses “redneck” he is not being hateful of his race – he simply has in mind a certain type of people who ahdere to different values in life, which he strongly disagrees with. So even if Michael did use the black equivalent of the same word it could be only to show that not all people of color were his soul brothers.

I think that “splaboo” is the same as “redneck”, only for black people. Change the word “white” into “black” in the definition below, and it might be it:

    red·neck Informal: Often Disparaging.
    noun
    1. an uneducated white farm laborer, especially from the South.
    2. a bigot or reactionary, especially from the rural working class.
    adjective
3.Also, red-necked. narrow, prejudiced, or reactionary: a redneck attitude. Synonyms: biased, narrow-minded, intolerant. Antonyms: fair-minded, open-minded, broad-minded, tolerant, unbiased, impartial.

I just think that they thought no one would believe Michael’s side of the story. I don’t know if they even gave a thought to what that story really looked like on paper. I truly feel what he cared about more than anything else was to humiliate Michael no matter how bad that story was.Does anyone that reads this realize that there was only one night that Michael was alone on that ranch with those boys? At first before any of the videos and stuff were found Gavin said it happened about five times. Then Sneddon find out that Janet Arvizo really was lying when she said that there were people in the DCFS interview with them and that she was not given a tape recorder.
Something happened during the hearing on the search of Brad Miller’s office and later the same day that Janet Arvizo was testifying ( September 16th 2004) in that hearing they went and searched Evvy Tavsci’s house/ home office. They went there because they were looking for evidence that showed the wherabouts of Michael during February and march of 2003. Now wouldn’t you think that they knew where he was by then? Then while they were there the police took a file that was clearly labled Mesereau. Then they had to have hearing and motions about that because they were not supposed to take anything that was attorney client priviledge. By September of 2003 the whole world knew who Michael’s lawyer was. I tell you it was just way over the top what they really did and what they really know. What is worse is that they are still out their spouting those lies even now.

I am trying to understand the justification to bring Bob Jones in to testify..He was writing a tabloid book and suddenly remembered MJ licked Jordans head.., like Janet said he did to Gavin..?.
Only to change it up a week before testifying, that he no longer recalls this odd occurrence. ..
You might think the interviewers might put 2 and 2 together and realize his motivation was to sell books but he was not willing to commit perjury..
So what was the point of still calling the guy?
Did the D.A. think that just because , when he talks to people, he pretends he is holding back pertinent info that they think he will be forced to spill on the stand..
The man is a P.R. agent ..he is all about promoting things ..like his own book…
It is in his best interest to have the public think he has some dirt on MJ for his book sales..

So instead the guy comes in and under oath, after knowing MJ all those years , says nothing much other then MJ and Jordan shared a chair in the front row of a music awards show , with his sister on Linda Evans lap and June Chandler right behind him?
That was televised all over the world..so what?

It is exasperating to me that these prosecutors are just so blind to these people intentions..
The only good that came out of this ridiculous trial , is that you can see the mentality that MJ was up against with the 93 accusations..as well…

We shouldn’t forget that about Stacy brown

Michael Jackson’s former manager apparently doesn’t know what the hell two New York Post reporters are talking about when they erroneously claimed he made provocative statements about Jackson recently.

The two blockhead reporters, Stacy Brown and James Fanelli, wrote up a questionable and as yet unsubstantiated article about the finances of the Jackson family.

These two baby-Roger-Friedman-wannabes made allegations about the solvency and employment of members of the Jackson family like it was their business; allegations which won’t be repeated here.
    {mosgoogle center}

However, they apparently messed up when they attributed quotes about Michael Jackson directly to Jackson’s former manager from back in the day, Frank Dileo.

They quoted Dileo as saying – and under the context of being a recent statement – that Michael wasn’t going to work with the family again and was only concerned about his own legacy.

Dileo, who spoke to EURWeb.com’s Lee Baily, says he never made the statement and certainly never made it to Brown or anyone at the New York Post. More from EURWeb’s website:

Furthermore, he [Dileo] contacted the article’s co-writer, {tag Stacy Brown}, to complain. According to Dileo, Brown said the quote was meant to be attributed to Bob Jones.

(see FORMER MIJAC MANAGER IN NY POST STORY BY MISTAKE)

Wow. If that is truly the case and Brown isn’t simply trying to cover his a$s, that’s one whopper of a mistake seeing as how Dileo was most recently seen supporting Jackson during the 2005 trial. In comparison, Jones was kicked off the Jackson gravy train, got mad and wrote a book of what some say are unsubstantiated and hateful innuendo.

    EURWeb’s report continues:

Dileo told EUR: “Stacy Brown called because he wanted me to speak at the University of – somewhere up there [in NY] – and I told him I lived in Nashville and I wasn’t able to do it, and that was the end of it. He said, ‘How are things going,’ I said, ‘Fine.’ We talked about our business in Nashville.

Next thing DiLeo knows, he’s being quoted in the New York Post regarding Michael Jackson.

“And I don’t know what [Brown] got into with Bob Jones or whatever, but I’m not a part of that whole crew,” he said. “I never make statements and I don’t make any comments. Why they put my name in that and where they got it from – it could’ve been something from 30 years ago, for all I know.”

This isn’t the first time Brown has gotten in trouble for telling falsehoods and selling them as news. Some of you readers may remember Brown making ridiculous statements about this website while he was an MSNBC “analyst”.

Then, he claimed this site was sponsored by Michael Jackson, regardless of the fact that nobody running this site has ever so much as met Jackson. Nor have I allowed this site’s independent tongue to be controlled by anybody; not even Michael Jackson (see False Info From Brown – MiniBullet#19 ).

This article is also published at ASSOCIATED CONTENT.COM

In what seemed to be a lame attempt to dismiss criticism of his Jackson hit piece for MSNBC back then, Brown proclaimed MJEOL a “sponsored website” — a complete and total lie — and never apologized for it.

Brown, once accused of plagiarism:”Jermaine Jackson Knocks Down Tab Report, Threatens Lawsuit”:http://site2.mjeol.com/mjeol-bullet/jermaine-jackson-knocks-down-tab-report-threatens-lawsuit-8211-mb-303.html ,threw a hissy-fit because I called him out in another commentary (MiniBullet#18) on some comments about the family he made for MSNBC.

Although Brown has never been a close friend of or part of Michael Jackson’s inner circle, he was a public supporter of the Jacksons until he too was kicked to the curb by the Jacksons.

You may also remember back when Brown was writing for the New York Daily News, he again got into boiling hot water when he made unsubstantiated allegations about a book proposal that was supposedly being written by Jermaine Jackson.

In his report, Brown claimed Jermaine had extremely defamatory statements to make about his family and, particularly, Michael.

Jermaine Jackson released a couple of statements through spokespersons at the time. One through spokesperson Angel Howansky saying:

Jermaine is “very angry and upset” at the obvious attempt of Stacy Brown to capitalize on the Jackson Family name once again.

(see Jermaine Jackson Releases Statement Refuting Tabloid Story)

    Another statement saying:

“Mr. Brown’s alleged false and malicious fabrications about the proposal or the alleged use of a doctored, false, and unauthorized proposal serve only to expose him to potential liability for making untrue statements.

Regardless of Mr. Brown’s alleged attempts to sabotage the sale of the manuscript, Jermaine Jackson looks forward to the future publication of his book…”

(see Jermaine Jackson Releases Statement Through Attorney Re: Stacy Brown)

As if that stellar record wasn’t enough, Brown was accused by one of the flip-flopping Jackson jurors of plagiarism. Ray Hultman, himself the subject of much criticism for flip-flopping in chase of a book deal, ultimately turned around and sued the person with which he signed a book contract.

In that lawsuit, according to reports from the Santa Barbara News-Press, Hultman said “whoever prepared the book proposal on his behalf included plagiarized portions of a Vanity Fair article by Maureen Orth” (Wacko Ortho):”Jackson Juror Now Wants Out of Book Deal”:http://site2.mjeol.com/mj-news/jackson-juror-now-wants-out-of-book-deal.html . Brown is supposedly the one who wrote the book proposal with the plagiarized material.

By the way, of all the people to swipe something from, Maureen Orth definitely should not be one of them. But I digress.

Hultman claimed “both the plagiarized portion of the book proposal and Mr. Brown’s statements damaged his reputation and the marketability of any book he could write on the subject” (Santa Barbara News-Press).

Brown was also accused a second time of dishonest and defamatory practices, this time in a non-Jackson related story; a story which would leave the New York Daily News again with egg on it’s face.

In a Fox News (I know, I know) report from Feb 12 2007 titled “Anna Nicole Smith’s Baby’s ‘Dad’ Reunites With Daughter”, Brown had written a manuscript allegedly on behalf of Anna Nicole Smith’s sister, Donna Hogan, about the late celebrity.

Excerpts of the salacious manuscript were then leaked to the New York Daily News, who published them apparently without checking with Donna Hogan.

It seems Brown didn’t have authorization to write a manuscript for Donna Hogan. In fact, he had never even interviewed her. Woops!

His manuscript was rejected for publication, the report says.

Not only that, but Donna Hogan decried the “inaccuracies and false statements” written by Brown in the manuscript.

This most recent dustup with attributing comments to Dileo is only another notable incident in a string of questionable incidences involving Brown and the Jacksons.

In my opinion, why anyone would readily accept anything Brown has to say with reference to the Jacksons without some form of corroborating material is beyond me. And I’m talking about REAL corroborating material and not just the parroted speculations of someone else.

No matter where Brown’s quotes about the Jackson family came from, it is at best highly irresponsible for them to be printed and spread without any independent supporting evidence.

But since when has the NY Post cared all that much about making sure to only report factual information about the Jacksons anyway?

Mr. Jones was present when Jackson traveled with the Chandler family. Jones identified Jordan Chandler as another of Jackson’s “special friends.” Mr. Jones described an occasion when Jackson had taken June and Jordan Chandler on a trip to Monaco. He observed Jackson and Jordan hugging a lot. Jones stated that as they flew a plane from Monaco back to the United States, he observed Jordan Chandler sitting next to Michael Jackson. Jordan had his head on Jackson’s chest. That Jackson would lick the top of Jordan Chandler’s head. Jones had almost forgotten about this incident until he heard various media accounts describing Jackson’s almost exact behavior with Gavin Arvizo.

    Shelly you are right how did they know about this alleged head licking in December to write this brief and Jones was not interviewed by the police until April 7th ,2005. Here is his testimony while under direct by Auchincloss;

    Q. Have you been interviewed by police officers
    14 concerning this matter?
    15 A. Not that I recall.
16 Q. Didn’t you have an interview with Steve
17 Robel and your attorney and myself last week in the
    18 victim/witness room —
    19 A. Yes.
    20 Q. — concerning this incident?
    21 A. Yes, yes, yes.
22 Q. At that meeting, didn’t you tell Mr. Robel
23 and myself and your attorney that you weren’t sure
    24 if that happened?
    25 A. I was very —
    26 MR. MESEREAU: Objection.
27 THE WITNESS: I was adamant in saying I was
    28 not sure that that happened. I could — I could 5530
1 definitely say that they were embraced in one
2 another’s arms on the flight, but I don’t recall
    3 anything about head licking.
4 Q. BY MR. AUCHINCLOSS: My question is, didn’t
5 you say that you didn’t remember that, but you
6 weren’t sure whether or not Mr. Jackson licked
    7 Jordie Chandler’s head?
8 MR. MESEREAU: Objection. Leading, and
9 argumentative, and misstates the evidence.
10 MR. AUCHINCLOSS: This is impeachment, Your
    11 Honor.
12 THE COURT: The objection is overruled.
    13 You may answer.
14 THE WITNESS: I might have said that. But I
    15 don’t recall.
16 Q. BY MR. AUCHINCLOSS: You don’t recall
    17 whether you said that?
18 A. No, I don’t recall ever seeing any head
19 licking, and I made that as adamant as I could.

Then there is his testimony a little later that more or less tells the whole story. This is at the end of the direct examination by Auchincloss about an email exchange between him and Stacy Brown:

    Q. BY MR. AUCHINCLOSS: You wrote — and
15 this — first of all, let me ask you, is the date of
    16 this e-mail accurate, October 30th, 2004?
17 A. I would imagine it is, sir.
18 Q. In that e-mail, you wrote, “Stacy: The
19 licking is going to be important because he did it
20 in this case, too.” Are those your words, sir?
    21 A. Apparently so.
22 Q. And in the e-mail that was dated the same
23 day just a few hours later, did you write, “Stacy:
24 The stuff with Jordie will bite him big”?
    25 A. If it’s — if it came from my e-mail, I
    26 wrote it. But I don’t — that sounds a little
    27 strange from my writing.
28 MR. AUCHINCLOSS: Thank you. I have no 5539

And at last there is the testimony that he gave on cross examination that tells us when the police interviewed him about this matter.

    CROSS-EXAMINATION

    6 BY MR. MESEREAU:

7 Q. Good morning, Mr. Jones.

    8 A. Good morning.

9 Q. My name is Tom Mesereau and I speak for

    10 Michael Jackson.

    11 A. Sure.

    12 Q. We haven’t met before, right?

    13 A. No.

14 Q. Okay. The prosecutor referred to an

15 interview that you had with Sergeant Steve Robel and

    16 another officer on April 7th, 2005.

    17 A. Uh-huh.

18 Q. Do you remember that?

    19 A. Yes.

20 Q. And do you remember you were asked by an

21 officer, “Um, did you see Mr Jackson engage in any

22 head licking in the World Music Awards?” And your

23 answer was, “No, no, no,” right?

    24 A. Uh-huh.

25 Q. And then you were asked, “Um, did you see

26 Mr. Jackson engage in any head licking of anybody?”

27 And your answer was, “Never.” Remember that?

    28 A. I recall. 5540

So now maybe someone can explain that age old adage that they keep spouting throughout the book and every single talk show or article that they write, how it was that Bob Jones, who was going to testify to this as far back as December of 2004, suddenly had an attack of conscience. Then, that attack of conscience was not in front of Michael while he was on the witness stand, but in the witness/ victim room when he was finally interviewed by the police on this matter?

Then there is the comment that Marina made under the “Was It a Match” article and I can confirm that the exact same words written in the Brown/ Jones book have been copied word for word from the article on the Smoking Gun “The Case Of The Telltale Splotch”. That particular segment of the book is written solely by Stacy Brown who can now be charged with Plagiarism.

Nan another thing that is interesting about asking for the letters is one was done by Billboard magazine and the other was asked for by Frank Dileo. No where in there does it say that the request came from Michael and since we now know that Bob Jones is taking credit for many things how do we know it wasn’t his idea? In my opinion Stacy Brown isn’t worth reading, quoting or being used a source when we know he has faabricated so many stories about Michael there just isn’t anything that can be believed. I think we should do like the New York Times and start asking people how many of these can be found and attributed to Jones and Brown.

“Do you know when Bob Jones was interviewed by the police?”

    No idea.

But Tom Sneddon couldn’t call Bob Jones as a witness to the 2005 trial without a prior interview, could he? So everything Bob Jones said to the police was to be repeated at the trial, wasn’t it? And if he didn’t say anything else it means he didn’t have anything else to say, right?

So all this talk about him suddenly “feeling sorry” for Michael when he saw him in court is another of those soap operas for the gullible public.

Even in the unlikely case he suddenly “felt sorry” and tried to conceal something Tom Sneddon wouldn’t have allowed him to. The way the media presents it, it sounds as if Tom Sneddon didn’t know what Bob Jones was to testify to. He knew it all right, otherwise why call him to the witness stand?

Everything Bob Jones wrote in the book should have been said at the trial. And the fact that he had nothing to say makes his case absolutely the same as that of Ray Chandler – the good old uncle was also ready to tell his lies in a book only but was too cowardly to make his appearance in court anhd answer for his lies there.

By the way, if Bob Jones felt SO sorry for Michael that he was ready to lie under oath for him, why then did he publish the book immediately after the trial?

I have a link to a an article regarding plagiarism by Jayson Blair. Jayson Blair was a journaist for The New York Times and in 2003 the story broke that for most of his employment he was found to be plagiarizing nearly all of his articles. My question is how does Stacy Brown still get jobs writing when it is clear that the “reporting” is actually fiction.

This is just a little article about the letter from Regan that they were looking for.
Frankly I see no problem asking for a letter from the president. This Roberts guy just didnt like MJ in my opinion..
They send notes at a persons request when you hit a certain age because I got one for my grandmother, you can get notes from Senators ,too..
You give enough to a campaign, you can sleep in Lincolns bedroom.
    That is just politics,
There is a reason that Regan wanted MJ to show up regarding anti drunk driving campaign. It is good press for he president.
There is no difference in MJ camp expecting the same thing back from them..
I seriously doubt that MJ people would have been the first or last to make such a request

Yes Bob Jones was interviewed by the police on April 7th,2005 just four days before he testified.
I think what is most interesting about using the extremely similar wording is that he must have kept some kind of running book of when He was interviewed.

“Both of them are liars and would lie for money, the idea that they would withhold any info on the basis of any kind of fondness is laughable. Nobody who said what Bob has said about MJ has any fondness at all for him.”

I agree. All that “fondness” and them being “friends” are the usual media tricks to make these stories look more credible. It is one thing when an enemy speaks badly of someone, but when a so-called “friend” is saying the same, its value in the eyes of the public is much higher. People will wonder, “If friends talk about him like that, so what a monster should this person be???”

Neither Stacy Brown nor Bob Jones were Michael’s friends, but I think that their degree of hatred for Michael and motives for their actions were different – so each should receive his due only, and this is the reason why I’ve made this post.

If Bob knew anything he would’ve testified about it, or Stacy Brown could’ve been forced to testify about having been told about it.

Instead they both admitted to exaggerating what was already there for more money. Stacy still brags about the money to this day.

“they believe Bob Jones didn’t reveal everything he knew on the witness stand and in his book and anywhere else because of some make believe fondness for MJ”

Rockforeveron, this is a very interesting point. Yes, he claimed that when he saw Michael in the courtroom he “felt sorry” for him and didn’t disclose “everything he knew”. When Bob Jones died the obituary said http://articles.sfgate.com/2008-10-15/bay-area/17135015_1_bob-jones-jackson-family-jackson-s-spokesman:

After being fired by letter in 2004, Jones was broke and angry — and decided to write a biography of Jackson, whom he had known since about 1970. The book portrayed Jackson as lip-syncing his way through a world tour and faking illness to avoid performing. Some critics, including the Jackson family, dismissed Jones as a disgruntled former employee.

In writing the book, Jones showed loyalty to Jackson by leaving out “a treasure trove” of potentially shocking details, Brown said. Jones’ loyalty to Jackson also was on public display, Brown said, when the publicist testified at Jackson’s 2005 trial on child-molestation charges. On the stand, Jones backed away from testimony that might have helped the prosecution. Jackson was acquitted of all charges.

“He saw Michael, and he felt sorry for him,” Brown said. “He couldn’t go through with telling the truth, telling all he knew.”

This is a clear lie told by the media and Stacy Brown (not even Jones himself). The phrase about “feeling sorry” practically amounts to perjury under oath, and I doubt very much that Sneddon would have allowed it. Most probably in his prior interviews with the police (when he didn’t see Michael and wasn’t yet “sorry” for him) he didn’t say anything the prosecution could use for their purpose. Even if he didn’t want to repeat it at the trial they would have dragged it out of him. And this means that he DIDN’T have anything bad to say to the police even before the trial. And that “backing away” from his testimony is about the “licking” episode where the defense proved to be a lie.

And in the “treasure trove of potentially shocking details” phrase it is the word “potentially” which carries the main weight. It means that the details might look damaging depending on how you look at them and therefore these “secrets” have a doubtful value. One of such details was disclosed by Bob Jones to the Guardian. It was presented as a big sensation.

    Let’s see what it is:

Bob Jones hands me an envelope and sits back in his chair. “This shows how far he will go,” he says with a laugh, his gravelly voice booming out across the bustling Creole restaurant in south Los Angeles. “It’s like the time he instituted an all-out campaign to try to get Elizabeth to knight him. These are ideas that he comes up with.”

Jones should know. For 17 years the Motown veteran ran Michael Jackson’s public relations, steering him from Bad to Dangerous and beyond, navigating the accusations and allegations that have plagued the past decade of the singer’s career, before being unceremoniously dismissed in June last year.

Now, in the spirit of the times, Jones has written a book, Michael Jackson: the Man Behind the Mask. Ghosted by journalist and one-time Jackson family friend Stacy Brown, it covers familiar ground – the marriages, the surgery, the special friends, the money – but the piece of paper Jones has given me covers something that isn’t in the book.

In 1984 a young White House counsel, John Roberts, today President Bush’s nomination to become the Chief Justice of the United States, wrote a memo in response to a request from Jackson that President Reagan send a letter telling him how great he was.

“The office of presidential correspondence is not yet an adjunct of Michael Jackson’s PR firm,” reads the memo. “Frankly, I find the obsequious attitude of some members of the White House staff toward Mr Jackson’s attendants, and the fawning posture they would have the president of the United States adopt, more than a little embarrassing.”

Ouch. The King of Pop’s request was denied. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2005/sep/09/michaeljacksontrial.popandrock

Is this information “potentially” shocking? Probably to some people it is. However knowing about Bob Jones’s publicity tricks (he said that the hyperbaric chamber was his idea) I am not at all sure that “a letter from the President” wasn’t his idea again – so all the “potential shock of it” is totally lost on me. Not to mention the fact that even if they made that request I think Michael deserved it.

“It is not exact but it is enough to say that they were both written by the same person. Just a few words here and there are changed.”

Lynette, a very interesting comparison. I haven’t read Bob Jones’s book yet, but what surprises me is that the paragraphs quoted were written in 1993 while the book was published after the 2005 trial, right?

It means that Bob Jones was making notes back in the 90s (could be just a diary for the future memoirs, he was a journalist after all). So in the 2005 he could either provide his notes to Stacy Brown and that was it, or he could contribute more to the book. However I’ve read that Stacy Brown was its ghost writer, so he was the main person writing, though Bob Jones could have given his okay to all the “embellishments”. He clearly wanted revenge.

What makes me think that he didn’t write all those nasty things himself is the fact that in Peretti’s film he didn’t really say much – most of it were just smiles, meaningful looks, long pauses and things like that. Peretti’s commented and tried to drag an answer from him by asking “What do you think of it (boys staying in MJ’s room) and Bob Jones answered: “I have no idea” and asked Peretti instead, “And what do you think?” Peretti answered, and again the only thing Bob Jones said in reply, “Oh, you do?”.

    And that was ALL. Why?

Why did he limit himself only to some hints? Is there any difference in terms of answering for one’s lies if you tell them in a book (dated ~2005) or in a documentary (dated 2007)? If nothing stopped him in the book why was he so non-committal in the documentary? The discrepancy between these two “sources” makes me think that it wasn’t really his doing but Stacy Brown’s, though of course Bob Jones was very hostile and unfriendly to Michael.

Another instance of this unfriendliness is when Bob Jones said in Peretti’s film that Michael and Jordan presumably had the flu. The same smile, the same look, the same meaningful pauses. But what’s the good of all that? We do know that they really had the flu – Jordan and June Chandler said the same and Bob Jones even called a doctor for them.

And what’s the point of all those smiles? To imply that they were only pretending? But why summon the doctor then? Only to be embarassed when he comes? They were really ill! So if ALL Bob Jones’s hints have the same validity as the “flu hint”, then there is absolutely NOTHING to talk about.

I just doubt very very strongly that Michael said he didn’t have much of a problem with their book, it’s just Stacy trying to make his book seem valid. It’s a way of attacking Michael. I don’t believe MJ ever said anything like that, we know MJ barely had anything to do with LaToya after what she said in 1993, according to Toya’s own words. David Gest said he’d never heard MJ be so angry over anyone, even Rebbie Jackson recently said there are serious issues LaToya needs to deal with. MJ never let her that close to him again after what she had done.

It’s the same with the loyalty thing – they’re not saying that because they believe Bob still had a fondness for MJ, they said that because they believe Bob Jones didn’t reveal everything he knew on the witness stand and in his book and anywhere else because of some make believe fondness for MJ. That’s why they say it. It’s a way of making it seem sinister and like Bob knows more and wasn’t willing to share it.

People need to be held accountable for their words and behaviour. Bob Jones and Stacy Brown made their beds, they did what they did for money and PR, they are responsible for their lies and for those lies and having themselves as liars exposed.

    @lynande51

That’s interesting you caught that. I remember fans saying once they read their book that they had copies of the National Enquirer were there were comments there word for word which appeared in Bob’s book.

I think the fact that Stacy Brown believed he could plagiarize Maureen Orth’s pieces to me reveals well and clear that Bob/Stacy had been sources for her and so Stacy believed he had a right to her work.

That is interesting about how similar the text is regarding the Stacey Brown book..Maybe Bob Jones just was willing to more or less sign off on that stuff without too much input..
I think I read in his transcripts of trial that he really didnt have that much time or personal input with MJ …..he just arranged the groups to go to Neverland…I will have to reread it..
The other thing I wanted to ask if if this site has its own youtube channel …I have seen sane mj fan say they are uploading things.I havent found it on youtube..
I know how many comments are on these columns. and I really do want to make an effort to find the Ron Zonen one on the local show and comment on it …because I am tired of him slanting things ,,He knows very well Larry Feldman was waiting in the wings for a big payday, and that family was completely discredited in a court of law…I hate to leave it unanswered

So I have my answer in Stacy Browns testimony. The reason that Jones was fired is because he approached Stacy Brown about writing a book at Michael’s January 16th, 2004 arraignment. According to Brown it was originally a different kind of book about other artists as well, but as they met with certain publishers they of course were told to make it about Michael because that is all anyone was interested in. The results were The Man Behind The Mask. Does anyone wonder why he was fired. Brown is supposedly a family friend so it wouldn’t surprise me if he played both sides of the fence in that one by first writing the book then telling the Jackson’s about it. What a snake.

Okay I am going to write in a couple of paragraphs from the book written by Bob Jones and Stacy Brown and then we need to talk about how much of this book is plagiarized or how long was he preparing to write this book? The way it is written the words by Bob Jones were italicized .On Page 23 last Paragraph reads:

“During the years I worked for Michael we rarely had quiet moments. Still, despite the chaos, I enjoyed the ride. Who wouldn’t have? Think about this. Early on working for Michael, we went to Rome where he played the Coliseum. Michael preformed for three nights, with 55,000 people at each show. I had never seen anything like it. It was out of this world to see that one black man had drawn all these people. We went to Paris and the audience kept growing. Ditto London, where Michael played five nights at the famed Wembley Stadium; 72,000 people came out each night to see him perform. All for one black man.”

    Then Brown writes one paragraph and it continues on page 24 paragraph 2;

“ I saw white folks passing out and fainting and this sort of stuff, and I couldn’t believe it. Take the President and mayors and our governors and put them all in a stadium together and you couldn’t draw 20,000 people, but to see Michael, this black man draw 72,000; it was thrilling.”

Sound familiar because there are very few word changes in parts of the article above. Just how long was he planning this book? Or was he just too lazy to write anything new.

All of a sudden, we went to the first out-of-the-country date. I couldn’t believe it, and it really frightened me.”
when you sit back and know that you can take the president and our mayors and our governors and put them all in a stadium together, and you can’t draw 20,000 people, and to see a black man draw these kind of people, I became frightened, because I know how this system operates.”

It is not exact but it is enough to say that they were both written by the same person. Just a few words here and there are changed.

No that was Ralph Chacon who cried when Mesereau asked him if he was going to go to the tabloids with another story when his testimony was over. He cried while he said “no I just want to go home”. I was just reading Bob Jones testimony and he was testifying for the prosecution. He was brought in after Stacy Brown said that Jones told him he saw Michael lick Jordan’s head so it was to help confirm Janet Arvizo’s statement to the Grand Jury that she looked over and “saw the Devil’s long white tongue lick Gavin’s head”. Yeah that is what she said to the Grand Jury and they bought what this woman said? Jones as it turned out was on the stand less than 10 minutes when Auchincloss was impeaching his own witness with the manuscript that he and Brown were working on. His excuse was that he had not given approval of the manuscript yet so he had not read the entire thing. He even admits that only parts of it are true what parts are those the names that he gives in it?

I have the Bob Jones/ Stacy Brown book. If you ever want to hear who started or kept enflamed the idea that Debbie Rowe was inseminated look no further. He was as responsible for that notion as anyone and since he readily took responsibility for many of the stories from the Hyperbaric Chamber to Bubbles to the Elephant Man’s Bones story how does that make it look for this story? What Bob Jones wanted to perpetuate was the falsehood that Michael hated his own race if you read that book.

The story about Michael not being the father first surfaced before Prince was ever born. It started in an article in the UK tabs and it was then that Michael and Debbie refuted that claim. In their book Jones has it coincidental to Lisa wanting Michael back a reconciliation effort that he says was short lived. This is where he says that Michael called Blacks by racial slurs and he even takes it futher when he implies that Michael was anti semitic. I think having this article is a good reference as to where Bob Jones and his coconspirator Stacy Brown were really coming from and what was their agenda, not Michael’s. For those fans that do not know this it is important to know that there is a confidentiality clause in Michael and Debbie’s divorce papers that forbid her from talking about to the media about their sex life. Why would that be added if there wasn’t one? Not HIS sex life, THEIR sex life. So certain parts of the media and I know you know who I am talking about like to keep that story going because it was their invention in the first place.

“I flipped through Jones’ book in B&N once. My mouth opened, it was so horrible. Not so much the things he claimed (I didn’t read much), but the way it was written – with so much judgement and disdain… Whatever MJ said to him out of politeness, in truth it was one of the worst books out there.”

Morin, I’ve read that the ghost writer was Stacy Brown and it was he who added all those “embellishments”. But for Bob Jones I have no words of support either. He was never worthy of Michael and seemed to be thinking mostly of his own flourishing career beside him. Most probably his disappointment with Michael was connected with Michael’s alleged “failure”. Bob Jones hoped to be in the company of a winner and he thought that Michael had lost.

However he shouldn’t have worried about Michael’s legacy in the meaning he attributed to it – Michael’s legacy is not in the publicity tricks Bob Jones invented for him, but in something much more lasting than that:

The eccentricities reported about Jackson were often the result of leaks that Jones orchestrated to make the singer seem more mysterious, Jones told the Irish Times in 2005. Initial reports about Jackson sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber and the importance of his pet chimpanzee, Bubbles, admittedly came from the publicist.

“It’s interesting that after working for Mihcael for so many years, he turned around so easily. After saying that MJ had been God-chosen, he went on to say he was spoiled, self-indulgent and so on.”

You know I once read a very good book on Jesus’s life history and why Judah Iscariot betrayed his teacher. The explanation the priest gave in the book looked very credible to me – Judah was not a pure villain the way we see him now. He understood Jesus’s words literally and hoped he would become the real King of Israel – a powerful man who would free his country from Romans, would bring prosperity to them and give his desciples positions of honor. So his whole world was totally shattered when his teacher’s persecution began – he thought that he had made a mistake and backed the wrong horse. This is why he betrayed him so easily.

Bob Jones reminds me of that old story. He wanted to be on the top of the world with Michael Jackson and when all his hopes were ruined – he himself was broke and Michael was in need of money too – Jones turned against him in the most vicious manner. However if he had lived to see Michael’s comeback, we would have seen a very different Bob Jones again.

“He sees Michael Jackson not as one of a kind rare talent, like Mozart, but more like a poster boy for black movement, a miraculous tool to assert that blacks are a great, deserving race. Michael never was so blatant, he never talked “black” and “white” like that (except maybe in 2002, when he felt obliged to). But usually MJ made his racial point in more subtle, indirect ways – which ultimately sink in deeper – while openly he talked about colorlessness and equality. He understood the problems, but he also kept in mind the ultimate goal – peace and love.”

I agree. Michael was never so blatant on race issues. I think he thought that all races should be given equal opportunities, but never stood for someone who disgraced his race by criminal ways or ignorance, or wanted preferential treatment only due to the color of his skin.

I saw Bob Jones in some documentary of the trial era – maybe it was Bashir’s or Halperin’s or Gutierrez’, I don’t rememeber. And he looked truly scary. Like, scary to frighten children with. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence that people who betrayed Michael usually look unattractive, or maybe it’s their bitterness that poisons their face. I wonder how he feels these days.

    Bob Jones died in 2008.

I think there might be another misconception about Bob Jones. In the beginning I think he did want to pay the race card. Close to the end Michael’s investigators during the trial found out that it was him that created the “crazy” impression in the media and had been doing it for years because HE saw Michael as a “Mad Genius”. Here he is in an interview promoting his book and being interviewed by someone from the Irish Times. That interview and article was picked up by The Guardian UK. Then I have left a link to Bob Jones’ obituary where the information is written again. A little bit more of a confession in them because he even claimed it was him that thought up the King Of Pop,Rock and Soul.

“That quote is from Stacy Brown and I don’t believe it.”

Rockforeveron, thank you for telling me where it comes from (I really didn’t have time to look, but now have accordingly changed the post).

I’ve now written that though it is attributed to Stacy Brown it was still very much in Michael’s character to forgive people. Let us remember that he even forgave LaToya who publicly called him a ped—le, though none of us would have ever forgiven a terrible thing like that. Michael was decidedly different and I admire him for it.

I dont believe that quote supposedly attributed to MJ..I have never heard Mesereau talk about going over the book with MJ after trial.
That is something Stacey Brown would be capable of making up.

Supposely, sfter MJ died, the spoon bender said MJ was forgiving of his involvement with the Bashir stuff, that they were patching up his their friendship, and I dont believe that either.
This is the caliber of people who would be willing to do this stuff for money in the first place. They have no decency or conscience.

That quote is from Stacy Brown and I don’t believe it. When Bob Jones passed away Michael never said anything publicly and he could have. I don’t believe MJ forgave Bob; it’s just Stacy once again trying to make it seem like his book was honest, valid and true and so truthful that not even MJ could have a problem with it. Stacy is truly disgusting.

The people in MJ’s life who chose to take advantage of him, to backstab him, to help kill him, which Bob was part of (he’d been selling stories on MJ for years), I can’t forgive and I won’t be kind about them just because MJ was known to be kind.

I flipped through Jones’ book in B&N once. My mouth opened, it was so horrible. Not so much the things he claimed (I didn’t read much), but the way it was written – with so much judgement and disdain… Whatever MJ said to him out of politeness, in truth it was one of the worst books out there.

It’s interesting that after working for Mihcael for so many years, he turned around so easily. After saying that MJ had been God-chosen, he went on to say he was spoiled, self-indulgent and so on. But you know, maybe I’m being biased here, but even in his praise I don’t see much of a personal respect tor Michael. I see awe. He sees Michael Jackson not as one of a kind rare talent, like Mozart, but more like a poster boy for black movement, a miraculous tool to assert that blacks are a great, deserving race. Michael never was so blatant, he never talked “black” and “white” like that (except maybe in 2002, when he felt obliged to). But usually MJ made his racial point in more subtle, indirect ways – which ultimately sink in deeper – while openly he talked about colorlessness and equality. He understood the problems, but he also kept in mind the ultimate goal – peace and love. His and Bob Jones’ agendas had a subtle but very substantial difference. So, again, maybe I’m being biased, but even in his early interviews he doesn’t seem to me like a guy who would be forever loyal.
