Jordan Chandler’s suicide note. WHOSE SUICIDE WAS IT?

February 26, 2013

Some readers’ comments on posts in this blog are so profound that they need to be singled out into separate articles, and this is what I decided to do with the comments about the drawing known to us as a “suicide note” of Jordan Chandler.

Initially it was meant to be a mere summary, but in the progress of it some new facts presented themselves and this eventually turned this post into a new big version of what happened in the 1993 case at all.

Victor Gutierrez 3

Victor Gutierrez

Jordan Chandler’s drawing is found in the book by Victor Gutierrez. The book was published in the US in 1996 under a flashy but false title “MJ was my lover”. Those who know the author from reading his book or from information about him attending a NAMBLA conference in a capacity we can only guess of, will wince at the mere mentioning of his name.

But on the other hand when writing his book Gutierrez worked in very close collaboration with Evan Chandler, so the general outline of the events described there may be quite correct. It is their interpretation which will be terribly distorted as the story is being told by Michael’s worst detractors with the additional twist added to them by a suspect boylover Victor Gutierrez.

So if the general outline of the events is more or less true, Jordan’s drawing depicting someone falling off the roof of a high building may turn into an interesting document for us.

Initially almost none of us disputed Gutierrez’s interpretation of the picture which claimed that it was Jordan’s suicide note in which he was warning his father against exerting more pressure on him or otherwise he would kill himself.

VERSION 1. It is Jordan’s threat to commit suicide

Victor Gutierrez says that Jordan made this drawing the evening of the day when he and his father met Michael Jackson and Anthony Pellicano on August 4, 1993.

The meeting was opened by Evan with the money thing – he thought that a tentative agreement had already been reached between his lawyer Barry Rothman and Michael’s investigator Pellicano.

But to his big surprise Pellicano did not confirm any such agreement. When Evan realized  that Jackson was absolutely “not eager to negotiate” he flew into a rage, shoved in Michael’s face the hypothetical psychiatric opinion of the case and left him and Pellicano in great fury closing his speech with a threat “I’ll see you in court”.

Gutierrez claims that after that notable meeting Jordan was so depressed that he drew a picture of himself jumping off the roof of a five-storey building and landing in a pool of blood on the ground.

Let us read Gutierrez’s text trying to distance ourselves from his pedophile-like interpretations and not paying too much attention to expressions like the “look of an assassin” attributed to no other but Michael Jackson.

Considering Gutierrez’s own inclinations his account naturally starts with a tender scene between Jordan and Michael Jackson meeting each other:

The meeting would be on Wednesday, August 4, at the Westwood Marquis Hotel.

Upon arriving to the hotel, Jordie calmly walked in, but when he saw Jackson, he jumped into his arms as they both hugged and kissed each other on the cheeks. Jordie rested his head on Jackson’s chest. Jackson stroked his hair and asked him:

“Are you okay, Jordie?”

“Yes, but I miss you!” responded the boy. The pleasantries ended when Evan told Jordie to sit down next to him. He opened the conversation by asking Jackson about the offer he had made to Rothman. Pellicano surprised Evan by immediately denying that he had spoken to Rothman about an offer. Evan looked at Jackson and said, “You’re the only one who can help me!” referring to his Hollywood dreams. But Pellicano again denied making any offer.

Evan briefly turned to Pellicano, and snapped: “Okay, then are you telling me that my attorney is a liar, or is there some kind of misunderstanding here?”

Before Pellicano could say a word, Evan returned to Jackson, and showed him a copy of the psychiatric report on his son, and added:

“I know what you have done to Jordie!”

Evan looked at his son for confirmation. Jordie nodded his head as if to tell Jackson that his father already knew their secret. Jackson looked Jordie in the eyes, smiled and shook his head. “It was a cold smile, without feeling,” Evan said. “It was a look of an assassin declaring their innocence in spite of a mountain of evidence. It was then when I realized that Michael Jackson had not only sexually abused my son, but that he was also a criminal.”

…. Evan and Jordie went to Rothman’s office to tell him about the outcome of the meeting. Evan told Rothman that Pellicano had reneged on the offer. This angered Rothman, who said “These people are incredible! They don’t keep their word. They lie. How can we negotiate with them?” Evan and Rothman thought that they would have to file a lawsuit against Jackson. Jordie was fearful and depressed about what had occurred at the meeting with Jackson, and about his father’s consideration of filing documents with the court.

The idea that he would have to testify in court against his “first love” depressed him so much that, before going to bed that night, he drew a picture of a boy jumping off of a building and another person yelling at him to stop from behind. The drawing also showed a figure on the pavement covered with blood. This was a message. It was a suicide note. Evan found the paper the next morning. When he saw the drawing, he wrote on it the sentence “Don’t let this happen!”

He thought that the reason for the suicide note was that Jordie had been sexually abused by Jackson. The drawing appears exclusively in this book. Jordie’s reason for suicide was not because he felt shame for his sexual acts with Jackson. He was depressed because his father had promised him that nobody would know. Now his own father was negotiating and planning to go to court to tell all. His father had betrayed him. He also understood that his relationship with Jackson would never be the same. At night, he had nightmares that he wouldn’t see Jackson. During the day, he took long naps, barely ate, and did not want to speak to anyone.”

Gutierrez’ interpretation is primitive, exaggerated and very specific in its tone, but in 1996 when the book was published and not yet banned in the US due to its pornographic contents, the public, media and police chose to fall for  the story.

Later on the whole thing was also plagiarized by Randy Taraborrelli who gave it the widest possible publicity by repeating it in at least three new revisions of his 1991 book (in 2003, 2004 and 2009).  Gutierrez’s story must have been included into the 2003 version already and stayed there until 2009 from where I am quoting it now.

Essentially it is the same Gutierrez’s story up to the “cold smile of a criminal” that Evan Chandler allegedly saw on Michael’s face:

“‘Michael responded with a cold, mocking smile that you often see on the face of criminals who proclaim their innocence even in the face of irrefutable proof of their guilt,’ Evan wrote. ‘It was a chilling sight. He showed no sign of remorse for his actions and he was completely indifferent to Jordie’s suffering.’”

…After his father’s show-down with Michael, Jordie was more depressed than ever before in his young life. The thought that he might now have to testify against Michael was more than he could bear. Before he went to bed, he drew what looked like suicide art: a stick figure jumping off the roof of a five-storey building, and then landing in a bloody heap on the ground.

The next morning, when Evan went into Jordie’s room to say goodbye to him before going to work, he found the chilling drawing on the floor. Jordie was still asleep. Evan wrote on the top of the paper: Don’t Let This Happen, underlining each word. He then put the drawing back where he found it. Turning to leave he changed his mind and decided to take the drawing. It would become evidence of Jordie’s state of mind.”  (Copyright 2003, by Randy Taraborrelli)

Let us single out of this chilling narration the two points we need for our future analysis – they will be the focal points we’ll look for in all the other texts:

  • the “suicidal” character of the drawing
  • the claim that it was made by Jordan at home and on the same day as the August 4th meeting

A slightly different story is told by Ray Chandler in his book “All that glitters” published a year after Taraborrelli’s 2003 version (in September 2004). The differences are minimal and may be easily overlooked, however there are some and this is where the devil is hiding.  Ray Chandler also describes the August 4th meeting at Westwood Marquis but does it in somewhat quieter terms.

The first thing we learn from his narration is that there was no tender scene between Michael and Jordan Chandler. The tender scene did take place but it was between Michael and Evan Chandler as the first thing Evan did was come up to Michael and warmly hug him as if he were his best friend:

AUGUST 4  Anthony Pellicano played the gracious host, all smiles as he ushered them in and offered food and drinks from a buffet. Evan exchanged a quid handshake with the man, but Jordie wouldn’t go near him. He remained slightly behind but very close to his father.

Evan then walked over to Michael and embraced the star with a big, happy-to-see-you hug, patting him on the back like an old friend. Jordie wouldn’t go near Michael either. “I was scared of him. I knew my dad was going to say that 1 told him what happened, and I thought Michael would get mad.”

…”So,” Evan began, directing himself to Pellicano, “Barry tells me you have a plan to help Jordie and me reestablish our relationship.”

“I never said that,” Pellicano replied, his voice suddenly taking an aggressive tone.

The harsh response took Evan by surprise. “Well, either you’re telling me Barry’s a liar, or there’s some serious misunderstanding here.”

Evan couldn’t figure it out. Barry had no reason to lie. Pellicano had made an offer and they had come to discuss it. Now he was denying it.

Frustrated by Pellicano’s attitude, and Michael’s apparent condoning it,  Evan turned to Michael. “You’re the only one who can help me now,” he said. “I know what you’ve done to Jordie. He told me everything.” Evan then asked his son to confirm that he had, and after the boy nodded affirmatively, Evan waited for Michael’s response.”

The King of Pop leaned in close, looked Jordie squarely in the eye, and calmly said in a little-boy voice, “I didn’t do anything.”

Let me note that in her article “Was Michael Jackson framed?” of October 1994 Mary Fischer quotes Pellicano saying that Jordan was surpised to hear his father’s statements and never nodded to “confirm” them. On the contrary the expression on his face was telling everyone present that he never said it:

“When Chandler got to the parts about child molestation, the boy, says Pellicano, put his head down and then looked up at Jackson with a surprised expression, as if to say “I didn’t say that.” As the meeting broke up, Chandler pointed his finger at Jackson, says Pellicano, and warned “I’m going to ruin you.” At a meeting with Pellicano in Rothman’s office later that evening, Chandler and Rothman made their demand – $20 million.” http://www.usnewslink.com/framedjackson.htm

Maureen Orth in her “Nightmare in Neverland” article published half a year earlier, in January 1994, gives even more details from Pellicano proving the same. Not only Jordan was surprised by his father’s allegations, but Pellicano was stunned to see Evan Chandler’s tender embraces with Michael. He was shorter than Michael and after hugging and kissing him put his head on his chest closing his eyes at that. Pellicano was amazed:

Pellicano’s version of the August 4 meeting differs totally from that of Jamie’s [Jordie’s] side. Pellicano says that as soon as the father and Jamie walked into the room they both hugged Michael.

“He’s shorter than Michael,” Pellicano says of the dentist. “And he’s got his head underneath Michael’s neck, and he kisses Michael, and he’s got his eyes closed.” Pellicano was astounded. “If I believed somebody molested my kid and I got that close to him, I’d be on death row right now.”

http://www.vanityfair.com/magazine/archive/1994/01/orth199401?currentPage=5

But let us return to Ray Chandler’s account of the events as we still need to find out when that drawing was made:

…After the meeting, Evan and Jordie went directly to Barry’s office. Jordie sat in the waiting room, doodling, while the two adults discussed what had transpired at the Westwood Marquis.

…Barry was furious that Pellicano had denied making the offer. “These people are unbelievable!” he exclaimed. “How the hell can we negotiate ; with them?” They talked it over and decided there was no choice but to file for custody.

Just as they reached that conclusion, Pellicano called. He claimed he never denied making the offer and told Barry that Evan was crazy and walked out of the meeting for no reason. Rather than waste time arguing over the phone, Barry invited Pellicano to his office to continue the discussion.

…Evan and Jordie left before Pellicano arrived.  When Evan returned the following morning he found Barry “in a state of ecstasy”.  Pellicano had responded to the deal by saying he thought it was a great idea and would cheek with the accountants and look over Michael’s development deal with Fox Pictures to see how it could be worked out. ”

Evan accepted Barry’s interpretation at face value, but doubted Pellicano had any intention of going through with the deal. As he left the office he handed Barry the picture Jordie had drawn while “doodling” in Barry’s waiting room the night before. He also gave Barry a letter with instructions on how to proceed.

Jordie’s drawing showed what appeared to be a child jumping off a tall building. Contrary to press reports, the drawing did not represent thoughts of suicide on Jordie’s part, rather his fears of going to court and having to tell the world about his sexual experiences with Michael. Fears he constantly relayed to his father.”

(Ray Chandler, Copyright 2004)

The dictionary explains “doodle” as 1) drawing or scribbling idly 2) wasting (time) in aimless or foolish activity.

So the gist of Ray Chandler’s version is that later in the day of the notable August 4th meeting Evan and Jordan went to Barry Rothman’s office where Jordan was “doodling” (drawing something) while the adults were talking, and the next day when Evan returned to Rothman he handed him the picture made by Jordan in that office the night before.

Isn’t it interesting how the drawing allegedly made at home and at bedtime according to Gutierrez/Taraborrelli suddenly turns into a drawing made in Rothman’s office according to Ray Chandler?

On the other hand what difference does it make? Indeed, this detail may not be that important –  except for the conclusion that the above is proof that Taraborrelli was using Gutierrez’s book (and not even Ray Chandler’s, not to mention others), and for this alone we should be grateful to this short piece of information.

Oh my God, Taraborrelli was copying from Gutierrez! And after that he is being quoted all over Wiki as the basic source!

The second idea expressed by Ray Chandler in his book is that Jordan was absolutely not suicidal.  Ray Chandler says that the boy was only reflecting on his fears of having to testify in court –  since Evan had voiced the idea of taking the case to court only in the morning of the same day, this could indeed be a blow to Jordan and his drawing could be a way of expressing his fears of testifying.

Fears can also be a reason for a suicide, however Ray Chandler clearly says that Jordan was in no mood for it, and this portrays him as someone more calm and controlling his feelings than we previously thought.

This idea is very much different from Gutierrez’s theory, but is surprisingly in line with what we heard from Jordan in his October 6th, 1993 interview with Dr. Richard Gardner. No one can be colder and more detached than this boy, who is supposedly talking about his “abuse”:

  – “What about fears? Any fears of any kind?”

– “No.”

–  “Sometimes people, after experiences of this kind, develop different kinds of fears. You have no fears?”

– “Maybe of cross-examination but that’s all. I mean I have nothing to hide, it’s just the thought of it.”

Ray Chandler’s words about his nephew and the boy’s own totally emotionless attitude go against Gutierrez’s story which was based on the alleged boy’s deep attachment to MJ. And though the suicide version proper is not yet fully ruled out, it is clear that the “love” reason for it, the one so dear to  Gutierrez, is not holding water.

If Jordan was ever suicidal the reason for it must have been totally different. It could have been the pangs of conscience as was my initial version, but since many of us doubted this very much too, at some point a new supposition arose and this supposition said that wasn’t a suicidal note at all.

The first doubts appeared when we noticed the difference in the size of figures on the roof – the one standing at the edge was big and black and looked like an angry adult, while the one standing behind and shouting “no” was much smaller and looked like a child.  So can it be that the figure at the edge wasn’t even the boy?

VERSION 2. Jordan is angry with his father who is throwing Michael Jackson from the top of the world

The non-suicidal verson was voiced by one of our readers (aldebaranredstar) who called the picture a homicide.

The idea of this interpretation is that the darker figure standing at the edge of the building is the most destructive person in Jordan’s life, and this person is Evan Chandler.

Evan is throwing Michael down from the roof of the building  and he lands in the pool of blood (which he really did as a result of that fictional 1993 case).

June Chandler and one of the minors (Lily or Nikkie) are depicted in the lower floors of the building and are therefore playing a secondary role in this situation. All they can do is merely observe the horror scene from a distance as they are unable to influence its outcome in any way at all.

The person standing behind the assassin is his son Jordan who is screaming “No” trying to prevent his father from making the step fatal for Jackson.

By the time this version arose we had already managed to rid ourselves of the spell cast on us by Gutierrez and Taraborrelli, and therefore started regarding this version as the only plausible one.

Indeed it explains and rather convincingly so the disposition of forces on the eve of Evan Chandler’s character assassination of Michael Jackson. The assassination itself was nothing new to us as Evan actually voiced it himself in a telephone conversation with David Schwartz and promised a massacre if Michael Jackson didn’t oblige.

In short the homicide interpretation perfectly fit and answered our questions about the Chandlers … except for a couple of things described by Geraldine Hughes in her “Redemption” book. Over there she tells us of  her impression of Jordan Chandler. She saw him in the office of her boss, Barry Rothman who was Evan Chandler’s attorney.

The first thing we need recall about Geraldine Hughes’ description of those events is that she saw Jordan Chandler in their office twice. The first time she accidentally entered her boss’s room and found Jordan sitting there alone with Rothman. She had not noticed him coming in and was startled by his presence in the same way as Jordan was startled by her unexpected entrance there too.

The episode took place before the boy went to psychiatrist Dr. Abrams on August 17, 1993 (the one who later reported things to the authorities). Geraldine Hughes says about it:

I was very surprised to see the boy in Mr. Rothman’s office unaccompanied by a parent. The boy, likewise, was surprised when I opened the door. Mr. Rothman snapped at me for entering unannounced. … The boy had a puzzled look on his face when I walked into Mr. Rothman’s office. … This meeting  between Mr. Rothman and the Chandler boy took place just before the boy was taken to see the psychiatrist who later reported the sexual molestation charges against Michael Jackson.

The second time Geraldine saw Jordan was after the allegations against Michael broke loose on August 23, 1993 She was asked to work overtime that day and was typing  documents while Jordan was hanging about the office waiting for his father and Rothman to finish their business. Geraldine says that the very idea why they were staying in Barry Rothman’s office was mostly to hide themselves from the media frenzy, in addition to discussing their further strategy of course:

The second time I met the 13-year old boy was after the child molestation allegations hit the media. Dr. Chandler and his son came to our office to hide from the media frenzy that erupted immediately thereafter. No one was prepared for the public’s response to the allegations. Dr. Chandler was afraid to go home because his yard was crawling with news media and the media was desperately trying to find Dr. Chandler and his son, who were both hiding in our office. Mr. Rothman demanded that I work overtime that evening to type some legal documents for them (p.45).

So if Geraldine was present in her office on Wednesday, August 4th but didn’t see Jordan accompanying his father on that day, it means that Jordan did not return to Rothman’s office after their unsuccessful negotiations over money (and went home instead), and came to the lawyer’s office just before and then immediately after the allegations broke out not to stay at home alone when the media began spying on each of his steps.

Given that the allegations broke out in the media on August 23 and this was the only time he was there with his father,  Jordan could draw a picture only during his second visit to Rothman’s office. It won’t change much in terms of Ray Chandler’s description of Jordan’s fears – fears were fears no matter when the boy felt them.

However if this was indeed the only day when Jordan was hovering about Rothman’s office Geraldine’s description of the boy will contradict the essence of the drawing he made there  – the boy was calm and composed, and much more in control of the situation that his father Evan. Nothing in his composure betrayed any of his fears and concern, at least for Michael Jackson.

In contrast to his son Evan Chandler produced the impression of a “nervous wreck” and it was actually the boy who was soothing him. He looked normal, undisturbed and in no way behaved like an “abused” child.

This is how Geraldine Hughes describes Jordan the second time she saw him:

While Mr. Rothman and Dr. Chandler were secretly hashing out details of their next move in the conference room, the boy kept walking back and forth between the conference room and my desk. I remember that he was amazed at my ability to type over 100 words per minute. He asked me, “how can you type so fast?” He kept staring at my keyboard with amazement. Once, while he was near my desk, I asked him how he was doing. He stated that he was doing fine.

While he was observing me, I too, was observing him. He was playing with some toys while listening to a Walkman radio. He seemed to be enjoying himself. I am not sure if he knew exactly what was going on outside of Mr. Rothman’s office, but at least for the moment he seemed to be having a good time. From all appearances he seemed like a perfectly normal child interested in playing and listening to his music and was curious about everything.

I observed the boy going in and out of the conference room where his father was nervously going round and round with Mr. Rothman. The father was far more nervous than his son. The boy seemed to just stay in his own imaginary world playing, having fun and not seemingly worried about what was going on with the outside world. I understood why Michael Jackson was fond of the boy. He was very fun, loving, warm spirited and cute. I found myself drawn to his warm and loving personality.

He was not your normal bratty kid – he was very kind and had a gentle personality. He did not act or appear as though he had been harmed in any way. He was acting like any normal, well behaved 13-year old child.

Although I do not have enough psychological experience to know how a child would act who had been sexually abused, I can say that there was nothing abnormal about his behavior, personality or attitude. In fact, he was the one who kept calming and consoling his father, who was a nervous wreck. If appeared as if the boy was protecting his father instead of vice versa. He was more concerned about his father’s well-being than his own.

After observing the boy for a number of hours, I could not help but speculate, in my mind, what would cause a child to falsely accuse someone of child abuse? Especially someone he loved and valued as a good friend – especially someone like Michael Jackson! Most kids would give their right arm and leg to be close to the superstar. I could not stop wondering how this boy could be sucked into such as scheme as this. What could make such an innocent child part of such an evil scheme?

It was obvious to me the boy felt a sense of duty towards his father. He kept walking back and forth checking on his father and asking if he was alright. When the father would have a nervous outburst the boy would soothe him and calm him down.

(“Redemption” by Geraldine Hughes, p. 45- 46).

This makes me wonder again. If Ray Chandler and Geraldine Hughes are describing one and the same visit, and it was Evan Chandler (and not his son) who was such a nervous wreck, and Jordan was so composed that even seemed to be “enjoying himself”  then why did he make that drawing?

Up till now it has been interpreted by us either as a suicide or a homicide note, which in both cases implies very heavy emotions, but over here the boy seems to be having very little if any at all?

In fact the only feeling Jordan Chandler is expressing here is a huge worry about his father. And this brings us to the third version of the same events.

VERSION 3.  Jordan is worried about his father and not Michael

The first to mention this drastically new theory was my compatriot Natasha. She wrote to me an email explaining that the picture could be about Jordan being afraid for his father (and not Michael).

Evan himself could be on the verge of a suicide and Jordan could be screaming “No” to him to stop him from taking the dramatic step. The drawing could be made for Evan’s sake to show him that Jordan cared for him and didn’t want him to die.

This idea was going very well with Evan being a complete nervous wreck and Jordan regularly going into the conference room to soothe and calm him down.

The version was interesting and when Nannoris expressed the same idea I realized that since this theory struck two people on both sides of the ocean and quite independently of each other too, it had the full right to exist and be discussed in full earnest.

Moreover this version looks like it might turn into the best and the most correct one too, since it explains every little detail the other versions are still unable to explain.

First of all it corresponds with the fact that Evan Chandler was much more terrified than Jordan by the situation he himself had initiated. Evan was afraid to go to jail for extorting money from Jackson, especially since he knew full well that an extortion it was.

Evan Chandler

Evan Chandler could be nasty, but did not produce the impression of a strong and balanced man

Evan Chandler was bipolar and what looked like a great prospect when he was in a manic state turned into the worst of his nightmares when the depression stage followed, especially after he finally realized the possible consequences of his plan.

We remember Ray Chandler saying that when the allegations went public Evan was in so hysterical a state that his brother had to drop everything and go and live with him in his house.

The version of Evan being on the verge of a suicide may also explain why he wrote on that note “Don’t let it happen”, meaning not to allow it happen to him (and not to Jordan). It could be an emotional blackmail where the father was saying to his son that everything was in his hands now and if he didn’t want the worst to happen to his father, he should better support him in his version and do his best to save him from jail.

It will explain why Jordan took the side of his father after all. If Evan was openly threatening to kill himself, or if Jordan simply felt that his father was on the verge of a suicide,  he could have agreed to say and do whatever his father wanted him to say and do, just in order to prevent the imminent tragedy.

It will explain why Jordan took care of his father even after he had been formally estranged from him and could perfectly well live all alone, but never did. It could probably be a way to keep an eye on his father and monitor the situation further.

It could also explain why Jordan forgave his father even after he had made an attempt on his life and did not insist that criminal charges be brought against the person who actually tried to kill him. Evan was ill and should be excused for everything he was doing.

It can even explain Evan Chandler’s final suicide in 2009. In that year, several months after Michael Jackson’s death Evan Chandler simply did what he had been threatening to do all along since 1993.

This version will explain Jordan’s double refusal to testify against Jackson and why prior to the 2005 trial he said to the investigators that he “had done his part” and if they insisted on his testimony he would sue them.  Back in 1993 he was really playing a role and knew perfectly well that all of it was pure invention. The boy could reason that though Michael would have to pay some money eventually the whole thing would be forgotten, while his father would require medical help for the rest of his life and could do with a couple of spare millions – especially if those millions were taken not from Michael’s pocket but from his insurance company (as they really were).

Blood is thicker than water, you know.

And this version fits perfectly well with Jordan’s true feelings about Michael. He did not want anything terrible to happen to him and was genuinely happy when the criminal case against him was closed. Gutierrez describes how “strange” to others Jordan’s reaction looked when he heard the news that the case had been dropped against Jackson – Jordan splashed into a swimming pool in his clothes and said to his brother Nikki that “this was a good day”.

This reaction is indeed so unusual and unexpected that Gutierrez could hardly invent it, so over here I am even ready to believe him:

Soon Jordie would receive some news that would relieve him from some of the pressure of being the boy who changed the life of the King of Pop. A representative from the OA’s office telephoned him, and told him “Michael Jackson will not be prosecuted, but if some day you change your mind and you want to testify against him, the case will be open for another six years.” Upon hanging up the phone, Jordie felt “relief and peace,” according to what he told to his best friend. “No one would speak about it anymore.” Jordie went to the swimming pool at his house where his stepbrother and Nathalie were, and jumped in w ith his clothes on. When his brother asked him if he was crazy, he answered, smiling and hugging him, “You don’t understand, but this is a good day.”

In short the theory that the drawing was inspired by Evan Chandler blackmailing Jordan with his own suicide is not that bad. Not bad at all. I hope you will agree that the above drawing can be interpreted that way. And though we cannot prove that this was really the case it would explain a lot about what was happening in the Chandlers’ camp.

Agreed! I too never perceived the drawing to be of a child jumping from the roof. I had interpreted as Chandler pushing Michael, but the interpretation of it being the depiction of a suicide makes great sense, and certainly food for thought. It had also occurred to me initially, perhaps Jordan Chandler had not created the drawing at all. Could hold some weight given the discrepancies on when and where the drawing was made.

It is almost impossible for an adult to “copy” this drawing style. This is a style you see from children and teens under certain emotional pressure and is for sure not the style of art class in school.

“Was it proven that Jordan drew the picture? I am inclined to believe that Evan himself drew this picture” -Maretha Love

Maretha, it is quite a possibility. We have only Evan’s word for it and no one ever looked into who really drew that picture. And in general the “official” story of Evan, Jordan and June Chandler known by the public is extremely far from the truth.

Yes I believe the last theory with the exception of one thing. Was it proven that Jordan drew the picture? I am inclined to believe that Evan himself drew this picture and claimed his son drew it. The fact is Evan Chandler was actually suicidal since that’s how he ended his life, however Jordie wherever he is, is still living somewhere. Jordie didn’t draw that picture.

Mishygurl, you are dead wrong.I have years and of experience evaluating drawings by children and adolescents. I can recall a male over 19 y.o. producing one in just this ” childish” manner. He was non psychotic, not depressed, no neuropsychological deficienies, just relat. heavy emotional pressure. These drawings are usually drawn pretty fast ,though detailed quite often. They are ölike and image or flash passing through the mind. The thruth is in the details.-For reasons of confidentiality I can not discuss the example I gave further.

IMO the drawing looks like a child watching someone or someones being thrown from a building. Everyone is assuming that Jordan drew it and that it depicts either his own suicidal thoughts or a homicide toward MJ or himself. What if the drawing was made by Evan and it is depicting someone harming him and jordans mother/loved one while Jordan watched? The sentence at the top Dont let this happen takes on a new meaning. What a great way to emotionally blackmail a child into lying. It’s very possible that Evan claimed that someone was going harm him and his family and the only way to not let that happen was to do as the father says. From Geraldines account Jordan showed signs of being in an (unhealthy) caretaker role of his parent. As another commentor stated the drawings and scribblings look like it belongs to a 7 year old and not that of a creatively talented 13 yr old boy. To me they look like the stick figures drawn by an adult without much artistic talent.

This “suicide” or more correctly homicide-prevention picture is a real gem. It correctly and I feel precisely expresses Jordans state of mind.He is afraid that his mentally disturbed father will go ahead and destroy Michael. Michaels destuction is shown as a fall and finally as a bleeding lump on the ground..He is about to be pushed to destruction By Evan. Jordan wants nothing of this to happen and is the figure who shouts NO.Jordan did want to protect both his fathers doings and also wanted to protect Michael.Passive onlookers, June and Lily are watching through the Windows.-No wonder he was so relieved that he jumped in the swimming pool with his clothes on once this danger was over as far as his involvement was concerned.I can almost feel a tiny bit of emphaty for the 13-14yo boy Jordan. He was used as a pawn between his bio parents and later even the stepfater asked for some 4 million $$

Re Jordans drawing. The fact that he adamantly refused to testify further
strengtens the fact that he drew that homicide picture. He knew his father was obsessed and crazy, but did not want him to take things further. Neither did he want Michael destroyed.
And Evans:” don´t let this happen” was a total misinterpretation of his son´s message..
Was this picture ever shown to a capable psychologist? not that I know of.

“It is a very interesing drawing indeed. Depicts Jordans wishes and state of mind at the moment. He did not want his crazy father to hurt or destroy Michael, he did not want a father who was a murderer.” – W

W, Tia ‏@tinklove05 is now posting on Twitter absolutely sensational documents about the Chandlers, Gutierrez, Dimond and Sneddon. One of the documents says that not only did Evan Chandler try to kill Jordan but he also sued him. The reason is unclear but the fact alone is taletelling. Evan simply couldn’t have any peace unless he sued someone – even if it was his son Jordan who was his sole supporter.

Another document says that Evan totally abandoned his other children (by Natalie) to a point that he didn’t even know where they lived. He stuck solely to Jordan as a source of his income.

It looks that Evan Chandler was totally crazy. A kind of a professional litigator, extremely violent, unstable, cruel and indifferent to anyone except his precious self. It was Evan Chandler who should have been called “wacky” and “weirdo” and not MJ. The media completely missed the point.

Again if I have a chance I’ll try to analyze some of those documents.

I very much agree with alderbaranredstar that it was a homicide drawing .I have seen hundreds and more of child & adolescent drawings and am sure this was drawn By Jordan.
It is a very interesing drawing indeed. Depicts Jordans wishes and state of mind at the moment. He did not want his crazy father to hurt or destroy Michael, he did not want a father who was a murderer. And in a spooky way the picture saw far into the future…Evan is dead and Michael destroyed and dead.
Just look at the finely drawn legs of the dead one on the ground.Maybe that was meant to be bloodstreams.
Evan ofcourse totally misjudged the meaning of the picture.

The questions to ask Jordan. So many.

All the Chandler’s to be honest. Especially would love to ask Ray why the official statements in his book that he worked on with Evan, contradicted what Jordan told police?

Why the stuff Evan worked on with VG contradicted what he told his brother? But Evan’s not here to answer that though, so…

Of course Thomas Mesereau would have asked that. It is a great pity Jordan did not testify – we cannot even imagine how badly (or well) Jordan could have been grilled there. This is why he avoided a testimony both in 1993 and in 2005 like the plague.

Dial, I also asked David to ask Thomas Mesereau as many questions as possible about June Chandler (Love bracelet, why Mesereau asked her if she ever undressed in Michael’s room or ordered food there, and what the live-in maid of whom we never heard said about Michael’s stay in June’s house, etc).

Did Tom Mesereau answer these questions? I suppose that he probably did not, due to the client/attorney privilige. Or was it a totally different blogtalk radio?

I feel sorry for MJ he didn’t do these horrible things, he was a kind and innocent child like man, who was often misunderstood, because he never really had a childhood if you look at his interviews from the 70’s as a child you often see how sad and lonely he gets even though he was always around his brothers, he would always be working and never had time to play and just be kid. So I think Micheal simply wanted to re-live his childhood and what he had missed out on, and just had a friendly relationship like little kids with Jordan and Jordan’s dad was just despicable and cruel.

One more thing about Gelardine Hughes. In her book she writes that in summer 1993 she only began working for Rothman and it was also her first place of employment too. She describes him as a tyrant who terrorized everyone and squeezed out of his every employee the most he could. She generally worked until 6 pm though sometimes he asked her to work overtime.

In these circumstances I think that Geraldine could not afford to miss a single day at her workplace (due to illness, etc.) especially since it was the beginning of her employment. So if she says that she saw Jordan only twice in Rothman’s office it most probably means that Jordan came there only twice too – the first time on the eve of a visit to Dr. Abrams (August 16th), and the second time soon after the news broke out (August 23d) when the media was after the Chandlers and Evan and Jordan had to sleep in Rothman’s conference room.

And if we recall that Ray Chandler claims that the drawing was made in Rothman’s office it automatically places Jordan’s drawing into that second visit when Evan was a nervous wreck and was yelling that he was risking going to prison.

Therefore that Jordan’s picture could after all be an attempt to reassure Evan and stop him from taking reckless actions. This isn’t the final conclusion, but it definitely adds to the version that Jordan drew a picture of himself expressing concern for his father.

“I go to with the third and last theory. When Evan`s secretary wrote that the boy seemed well composed, calmed, fine and well behaved and about Evan being a nervous breakdown then it is the most suitable theory that Evan was on the edge of suicide and Jordan trying to calm him down.” – jojo

This is quite possible too, and we can keep this version in mind until some new factors appear. It would be nice if we could get a definitive answer to be able to understand Jordan’s frame of mind. It is important to know who was dearer to Jordan judging by that picture – Michael or his father? The answer to this question may explain why Jordan went for Evan’s scheme at all.

In the meantime I’ve found some more details in Geraldine Hughes’ book. This coincides with Ray Chandler’s words that Jordan made that drawing while he was hanging about Rothman’s office (they even spent the night there) and shows why Evan was so nervous. He was afraid to go to jail for extortion:

“Right after the allegations hit the news media, everyone was looking for Dr. Chandler. The media found out where he lived and were staking out his residence. Dr. Chandler and the boy came to our office to take shelter. While everyone was looking for Dr. Chandler and his son, they were held up at our office. They spent the night in the conference room located just a few feet in front of my desk. To me Dr. Chandler appeared to be a nervous wreck. He paced back and forth and was biting everyone’s head off. At one point I heard him yell at Rothman, “…It’s my ass that’s on the line and in danger of going to prison.” (I noted this statement in my diary)”.

“Jordans drawing was a plea to stop the whole thing. Stop his father from from a massacre for Michael” – kaarin

This is a very good version. If the drawing was indeed made immediately after the August 4th meeting (when Evan confronted Michael and openly threatened to ruin him) then it is definitely Jordan trying to stop his father from murdering Michael.

By the way there is a difference between murder and homicide: Both are killings, but murder is intentional and homicide may be accidental. Over here it was murder.

But there is a word to say in favor of the second version too. Actually for us it is not that important which version it is (we can keep in mind both).

We know the main and most important thing – Gutierrez lied about Jordan’s suicide. And Taraborrelli repeated his lie. And since he repeated Gutierrez and not Ray Chandler (who says it was not a suicide), it means that Taraborrelli used Gutierrez as his source for writing about the Chandlers (there will be more proof of it as we compare their books. I’m currently doing it).

BUT Taraborrelli is quoted all over Wiki!

And this means that the 1993 case is mostly presented there which way? The way it was described by GUTIERREZ! This is the worst part of it. People use Gutierrez’ lies without even knowing it. To me it is even more important than the knowledge which version of the drawing is correct.

When I said “It was August 5th only and 40 more days were to pass before that suit was filed at all” I meant that in early August Evan was not thinking of going public – whether with a civil suit or, God forbid, criminal proceedings. He wanted everything to be hush-hush, and for this type of “negotiations” no one needs any “suicide” notes. However this is an insignificant point.

However, in the drawing he made, he reveals himself as the violent man he was, out to massacre and destroy, especially Michael Jackson, his target. So he thought he was drawing a suicide picture, but inadvertently he drew his own rage.” – aldebaranredstar

This is a complex explanation referring to the subconscious. You mean that for his “plan” Evan needed a picture of the boy committing a suicide, but because of his subconscious he betrayed his real intentions and depicted himself as a murderer?

    Well……

Let us remember that one of the reasons why you yourself suggested calling it a murder picture was the size of the figures – the one staying behind is smaller than the one standing at the edge. The smaller figure is Jordan, the bigger one (and blacker too) is Evan. Evan is throwing Michael off the edge and Jordan is shouting “no” to him.

It is difficult to imagine that Evan could confuse those two figures and show Jordan as the bigger and blacker figure while he himself (Evan) would be a small figure in the back. In a highly emotional state this could be possible, but when people devise a plan and meticulously work according to it such mistakes are ruled out.

In my opinion the above considerations are excluding two versions now – that it was Evan’s drawing and that it was Jordan’s drawing of his own suicide. Only two versions remain – Jordan is trying to stop Evan from murdering Michael or he is stopping his father from committing suicide.

You are right. KEEP negotiating said immediately after the August 4th meeting is an interesting statement, especially if he really considered MJ a p-le. Well, all those authors practically say it pointblank that the row Evan arranged on August 4th was because he thought that Rothman and Pellicano had already agreed about a settlement (so there were earlier “negotiations”, weren’t there?), and when Pellicano did not confirm it and Evan saw that Michael was against negotiating anything (he said “I didn’t do anything”), this is why Evan flew into a rage at all.

In July 15–the PLAN unfolds: “Abrams sent Mr. Rothman a two-page letter stating that “reasonable suspicion exists that sexual abuse many have occurred.” (G. Hughes, 62). This is the PLAN. It did not suddenly occur AFTER August 4th. It was planned back in June. Why would Rothman call Abrams unless he was planning to report MJ?? He was prepared to report him if they didn’t get $$$ and he did.

I go to with the third and last theory, Evan killing himself and jordan saying no to the Evan Suicide Threat should be called.

When media saw this drawing their interpretation went to worst case scenario: poor Jordan Chandler, he is threaning to kill himself and probably then that Jacko did molest him. They never thought about the possibilty of Evan being ill. They fell for Gutierrez`s theory. They stick to it to this very day. When Evan commited suicide, which is what he threatned to do since 1993, they blamed it on Michael Jackson and tablod news simply weeped tears over Evan Chandler.

When Evan`s secretary wrote that the boy seemed well composed, calmed, fine and well behaved and about Evan being a nervous breakdown then it is the most suitable theory that Evan was on the edge of suicide and Jordan trying to calm him down.

This is why the third one is the most suitable theory.

“Why would Evan have depicted himself as a murderer?” – kaarin

Some versions contradict other versions so much that they become mutually exclusive. Here is the gist of it:

    1. If it was Evan’s drawing, then it could not be a picture of a homicide, because Evan would not depict himself as a murderer.

    2. So if consider the version of Evan throwing Michael off the roof (the homicide) as the main one, it automatically makes Jordan (and not Evan) the author of the drawing.

    3. A homicide drawing could not be used for the lawsuit. Evan needed to show Jordan’s terrible emotional state as a result of “molestation”, so showing to everyone that the state resulted from Jordan considering his father a murderer was not in his interests.

    4. Therefore it officially turned into a “suicide” drawing though in reality it could be a homicide one.

    5. Evan could not show the drawing to professionals because they could decipher it in a proper way. So it stayed only in Gutierrez’s book and was simply told stories about.

As to professionals’ opinion, Kaarin as a professional psychiatrist says that it is a child’s drawing, and Natasha I’ve told you about turned out to be a specialist in graphics and scripts. She also gives me a 100% guarantee that this drawing was made by a child.

The two letters we have in the cartoon do look like the note above made by Evan, but it might be a coincidence and is too little for a definitive conclusion.

So if we agree that it is Jordan’s drawing after all, now we have to decide which version among those 3 mentioned earlier is the main one – 1) Jordan’s suicide 2) Evan killing Michael 3) Evan killing himself and Jordan shouting “No” to him.

This is a very good point. Children very often do not show any signs of distress. That is why parents often find it only through their pictures and only then rush to psychologists for advice and help. So the fact that Jordan looked relaxed to Geraldine Hughes should not confuse us in this respect. He was listening to music on Walkman and was playing with some toys to distract himself.

However we don’t know how Jordan felt after the August 4th meeting with MJ and Pellicano. Geraldine Hughes is describing the visit after August 23d.

“There are so many lies, it is incredible.” – Nannoris

Yes, all these stories are incredible lies. They look believable only until you start really looking and asking questions who did what and why. It is only then that it becomes clear that nothing fits in. But unless you ask questions it looks okay. That is why liars usually explain things “in general” and people assume that it is the truth. The devil really hides in the detail.

“I am just wondering if it was true that Evan actually left Jordan at home and went to work??”

It was said only in Taraborrelli’s version which was a clear mistake on his part. He got carried away by Gutierrez’s story and was improvising:

The next morning, when Evan went into Jordie’s room to say goodbye to him before going to work, he found the chilling drawing on the floor. Jordie was still asleep. Evan wrote on the top of the paper: Don’t Let This Happen, underlining each word. He then put the drawing back where he found it. Turning to leave he changed his mind and decided to take the drawing. It would become evidence of Jordie’s state of mind.

Gutierrez does not say anything about Evan “going to work” (my mistake that I mentioned his name in the earlier comment). He simply says that “meanwhile” Evan took Jordan to Rothman’s office where they discussed the $20 mln. (demanded by Evan). Well, if he had taken Jordan there Geraldine Hughes would have seen him there, right?

Rothman told him he did not want to negotiate over the telephone, and to come to his office. Pellicano agreed. Meanwhile, Evan and Jordie went to Rothman’s office to formulate a counteroffer to Pellicano’s apparently revived offer. Basically, it was for Jackson to deposit 20 million dollars in an interest bearing account.

And Ray Chandler presents one more variant – Evan went to Rothman alone and after the discussion showed him the note drawn by Jordan the night earlier. In his variant the note had been made in the waiting room of Rothman’s office and not at home:

Evan accepted Barry’s interpretation at face value, but doubted pelhcano had any intention of going through with the deal. As he left the ffice he handed Barry the picture Jordie had drawn while “doodling” in Barry’s waiting room the night before, f He also gave Barry a letter with instructions on how to proceed.! Jordie’s drawing showed what appeared to be a child jumping off a tall building. Contrary to press reports, die drawing did not represent thoughts of suicide on Jordie’s part, rather his fears of going to court and having to tell the world about his sexual experiences with Michael. Fears he constantly relayed to Iris father.

I am even surprised that all these authors could not agree about a simple thing like that suicide note and all the rest of it in this connection.

In an interview,if you get a picture like this, you ask the child about it. You specifically avoid names of family members, just give them any names, not the names of people you know, and then ask the child to tell what is going on. If you bring it too close to home that will inhibit the child. It is different if the child spontaneously does name the persons. Who else would have sensed the dynamics of the situation so closedly.

Most are quite calm on the suface. Also I do not think Evans eventual suicide had anything to do with regret, bipolar 1 illness and esp. an utreated one carries a high risk of suicide. At the time when preparing his plan in 1993 he was agitated rather than suicidally depressed. He swore to massacre Michael. And still the 5 people in the picture were all personally tied to each other in a bad..good and ambivalent way. Only Jordan had feelings and strong ones for each of them.

But I see them as two separate versions and don’t understand how one can come together with the other – was Evan drawing a picture of himself murdering someone? Could you explain please what you mean?

“NO he did not say that he put a tape under the bed to the police. To the police he told them he was just bluffing” – Lynette

NO he did not say that he put a tape under the bed to the police. To the police he told them he was just bluffing and said it to get Jordan to tell him what happened. It was to Michael, June and Pellicano that he said he had taped them. It was Howard Wietzman that said Michael was not afraid of any tape that they might have had so he wanted to go to criminal court..This particular threat was on June’s answering machine and she gave the message to Pellicano which is why he had Dave tape Evan.

    “Does anyone really believe that…?”

Lynette, life has shown that the general public believes every lie these liars tell. And the more absurd the lie is the more people believe it.

We don’t believe the lies. But for us it is not enough simply not to believe them. Our goal is to restore the truth wherever it is still possible. And it is a somewhat different process – a very tiresome one, but sometimes rewarding. Even if we cannot find the whole truth we are at least able to discard the most absurd things and narrow down our search to a smaller area, where it will be easier to look.

“The threat were that he had taped Michael when he was at his house only suddenly there was no tape because the tape didn’t have what he wanted on it.”

Oh, this is an extremely important point. I even want to write about it a separate post. You are talking about Evan saying to police that during Michael’s stay in Jordan’s room he put a tape recorder under the bed. I don’t doubt it for a second that he really did. Moreover this was the big idea of inviting Michael to his house at all, and the reason for his readiness to put an extra bed in the boys’ room.

They were actually the ones who instructed the maid (Norma Salinas) to put the bed there though she herself suggested another room. She was infuriated that they didn’t want to listen to her, and this later was the reason why later she complained to Gutierrez (and TV) that Evan was “prostituting” his son.

No, he wasn’t prostituting his son. He simply NEEDED Michael to sleep in Jordan’s room to be able to place a tape-recorder there.

And then the tape was turned over to the police. However after that we never heard of it. Why? Because there was nothing there. NOTHING!

This is another of those things which the media once reported but later preferred to “forget”.

I think everybody s forgetting the most important part of the drawing. That is that we only have one sides version of that drawing and if what they say is true about it it should have been in the hands of the police and not in Evan Chandlers or Victor Gutierrez possesion to be put in a book later.
This is just more evidence of how they hoped to extort Michael with their threats of allegations so there is no way that I believe it was drawn by anyone in the context that they say it was.
Chandler lies about everything. It was a story that he had planned before he ever even met Michael. That is why you have a convoluted story about Michael’s and Evan’s first meeting where he supposedly asks him if he is “fucking his kid”. Then in their version in the book Michael giggles and says ” I don’t use that word. Or in the official version to the police and DCFS he says that Michael got upset with him which seems much more plausible if you ask me.
Does anyone really believe that Michael heard those words and didn’t order him out of the house when he said it? Do we really believe that Michael then agreed to go stay at that mans house with Jordan after he said that? Does anyone really believe that Michael would not have immediately stopped having Jordan come to stay at his house if Chandler had said that to him? I don’t! Not for one second.
Does anyone really believe that Evan Chandler asked Michael to build on to his existing house or buildhim a new one after saying that to him? Then after Michael refuses to do that comes a series of threatening innuendo phone calls between June, Michael and Evan. That is why Michael hired Pellicano in the first place which is why we have that tape between him and Dave Schwartz that Pellicano asked Dave to make.
The threat were that he had taped Michael when he was at his house only suddenly there was no tape because the tape didn’t have what he wanted on it.I think he did drug Michael and thought he was going to get information from him and I think he actually used Sodium Amytal on Michael that day. It was like Michael had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom when he was at Evan’s house it was not like he was there visiting. THey had their story and they could say whatever they wanted too because Michael was not going to say anything about it except in court..
Then we have this picture which we only have the incredibly worthless word of Evan Chandler as to the origins of this picture. It had one purpose and that was to frighten Michael with it. It is in other words just another minute detail in the threats that Evan was making. We don’t even know for sure if it was drawn when they say it was drawn because that information comes from them.

There are so many lies , it is incredible..I am just wondering if it was true that Evan actually left Jordan at home and went to work??
Am I right that this drawing was done in the early stages of this extortion ?
You start this awful accusation, and you leave for work? You leave the person you are dependent to make this heist work, alone or with his step mom all day to think about what he is about to do to somebody??
Because if I was Evan, I would be afraid JC would call June to come get me and get me out of this mess.
So if he did make that drawing and left it by his bed for him to see first thing in the morning, maybe he was giving him another reason, not to contact his mother..
Because it would have destroyed his entire family
If he called June, I think this entire thing would have blown up in Evans face.
Perhaps like emotional blackmail, because this was about custody also.
He had every intention of destroying JC relationship with his mother as well.
You have this kid who is talking to DR Gardner and Geraldine Hughes like nothing big is going on..No hysteria , no nothing..
So as long as things are going the dads way, JC seems to not care less…
I cant believe the police read VG book and concluded it was the truth.
When Evan says he paid off alot of people, I wonder just who he means…
Sneddon was an ambitious bullying brute who should have been able to see right through this, unless the demon told him there was a book deal in his future , if this went the right way for her and others
He even mentioned being approached for a book deal for a million dollars , that he supposedly didnt care about …
If in 2005 , the jury and Tom Mesereau were offered book deals , Sneddon must have been approached also, like the Manson prosecutor.. if he got a conviction.
Larry Feldman played into Everyones worst side of their character.
MJ was never going to be innocent , because it wasnt in Sneddons best interest., otherwise the extortion is just BLATANT.

“The worse the “injury” the more money they get. Part of that lawsuit would have been infliction of emotional injury and the “drawing” was to show just how upset or the level of “emotional harm” that Michael had supposedly inflicted on Jordan.”– lynande

Okay, let us regard it as a working theory (for the variant of Evan being the author of the drawing).

“There doesn’t have to be logic in what they did because they were not being logical.”

But there must be a logic for the picture and an explanation for each figure there. In your version the person screaming “no” should be not Nicky, but Evan himself as otherwise it will be illogical.

Okay, so Evan drew a picture of himself seeing Michael throw Jordan off the roof and shouting “no” to stop the murder. But this kind of an interpretation is valid only if after that Evan showed the picture to Jordan (and not to Rothman). This was his way to explain to him who was the real “villain” (MJ) and who was Jordan’s real “savior” (Evan).

Of course it is a somewhat childish way to convince anyone of anything, because he could simply say it and it was not at all necessary to draw it. But under some circumstances it could still be possible.

So he made a picture for Jordan, but later decided to present it as a drawing made by Jordan who was depicting his own suicide? In short it was drawn for one purpose but used for another? Well, possible too.

But among all these possibilites one should be more possible than the rest of them. And though each of us can have an opinion of our own, it will still be nice to find the most probable one.

Oh by the way the photo that you have of Evan with his arms up in the air is when he was supposedly assaulted. It was Kevin Smith and Gary Morgan that supplied the world with that answer in the Documentary on Frontline about the Michael Jackson Scandal. If you watch this documentary you will see them say that it was a photographer that bumped him in the head when he came out of his car swinging his briefcases like a helicopter to get them away from him.

Helena on one of the other pages in the book there is a page that is from Evan’s script. On it they talk about Pellicano threats and Jordan being worried that Evan might be killed by Pellicano. They of course got that from VG who said that Pellicano had someone beat him up on the street. This man helped Evan Chandler make up the whole story. There doesn’t have to be logic in what they did because they were not being logical. Who knows if it was Jordan or Evan that drew the picture because it all came down to wanting more money.
All of those pictures and letters and drawings that were in that book are evidence of the extortion and the set up. Evan met with Gutierrez and he supplied him with information about Michael’s body from people that were supposed to know about it like Blanca Francia and Orietta Murdock. Rothman would have told him that the worse this effects the people in the family the more it is worth.

It is a way to extort more money if you are committing the extortion through legal channels. In other words the threat was to sue Michael in court and have these allegations become public if he didn’t get the money he wanted. Rothman had a lawsuit drawn up or at least in the works and thisis to prove the “infliction of emotional injury” on Jordan. The worse the “injury” the more money they get. Part of that lawsuit would have been infliction of emotional injury and the “drawing” was to show just how upset or the level of “emotional harm” that Michael had supposedly inflicted on Jordan. This was just another legal trick that Evan Chandler and Rothman were using that’s all and that is why there are others in the picture to show harm on the whole family not just Jordan so they would all be entitled to compensation.

“Michael is supposed to be the dark figure on the edge of the building. He is supposed to be pushing someone off the building.”

Lynette, I didn’t quite get it. Since your own version is that the drawing was made by Evan, you think that he is showing Michael here as the main villain throwing Jordan off the roof? Well, if we remember what Evan was like, it is a possible interpretation.

But why is he writing “Don’t let it happen”? Because he is trying to convince Jordan to stop supporting Michael? Okay, possible too.

But why is he drawing a third figure on the roof and even adds “no” to the picture? This figure falls out of the logic of it.

    “But why 5 people”

Kaarin, this is a good question. If the drawing was made by Evan (for whatever reasons) he would not have drawn anyone else but himself and Jordan. It was between the two of them only, while all the rest were too insignificant for Evan even to mention them there. Especially the minor.

“As for not doing all this for money there are alot of people that commit murder for money. To a man without a conscience and a raging temper like Chandler this would be nothing to him in exchange for $20 million.”

Lynette, this I know but what I don’t understand is how this drawing fits into the extortion scheme. Just imagine it – supposedly on August 5th Evan sits down and draws a picture of his son committing suicide, writes on it “Don’t let it happen” and then shows this fake picture to his lawyer? Is it supposed to be a reason for extorting money from Michael? In what way was it helping him? I simply cannot see how.

Therefore I looked for other reasons within the same supposition (that Evan drew it himself). The only one I can think of is that the night before Jordan refused to go with Evan’s scheme and threatened to commit suicide if he pressurized him further (it does not mean that he necessarily meant it) and in the morning, before leaving for work (or Rothman’s office) Evan left that drawing by his bedside saying that he didn’t want it to happen and was therefore screaming “no”. This way he just sent a signal to Jordan – “Wait before you take the fatal step, we will sort it out”

But this is only in case the drawing was made by Evan. If we manage to prove that it was his doing, it will show that he was capable of a set up.

However if the drawing was made by Jordan we will have to select among the first three versions.

“This is my conclusion: 1) either Jordan drew it, or 2) Evan drew it.” – aldebaranredstar

But this is no conclusion at all. It is a dilemma on which everything else depends. However it is probably in choosing between these two that we have a solution to this riddle.

    1) If it was Jordan’s drawing then all the three versions voiced earlier have the right to exist, and each of us can choose whatever we like best. All three revolve around Jordan – he was either threatening his father with a suicide trying to influence him this way, or was worried about Michael and the massacre Evan was arranging for him, or was concerned about Evan himself and tried to stop him from the fatal step.

The last one depends on when the drawing was made – if around August 24th then it was a possible variant (Evan was really hysterical at the time).

    2) But if the drawing was made by Evan, it casts a totally different light on the whole thing. It shows Evan as a person able to present a paper of his own making as someone else’s drawing. This will make him an unscrupulous liar and manipulator who not only possessed a terrible temper and a suspicious mind, but was also able to forge things. And if he was able to falsify things here it means that he was able to falsify things everywhere else.

In this version it does not even matter for what reason this drawing initially emerged (as a soothing note for his son (?), because if later Evan still used it as a false document, it shows his full ‘potential’ as a liar.

If we could only determine for a fact that the drawing was made by Evan this would be a good proof that he was also able to set up Michael Jackson.

My interpretation of that drawing is this:
Michael is supposed to be the dark figure on the edge of the building. He is supposed to be pushing someone off the building. That stick figure with the short dark hair going down the side of the bulding is Jordan. The first thing that Evan made Jordan do was cut his hair off because he had it long like Michael’s ( it was long like Michael’s when he met Michael). Of course they don’t tell you that but it is obvious from the photos in Gutierrez book.
I think the little person standing back is Jordan’s little brother. Everyone assumes that the rest of the Chandler family was not involved because the Chandler’s say so? I think they were as aware as a 4 year old could be.I think all the BS about Michael and Pellican coming after them would have been overheard in that household so of course the 4 year old would have been afraid too.
This was just used by Chandler to “up the ante” so to speak so he could get more money from Michael or the courts by saying “see they’re scaring him”.

This is probably what none of yuo understand. Evan was a dentist (a doctor) he had bad hand writing because all doctors do from taking notes in a rush in med school.
The “drawing” about Michael’s body is not the official drawing that we are talking about. Gutierrez and everyone else uses this as an example. The one in his book is in fact evidence that Evan Chandler was taking notes from someone about how to describe Michael to relay to Jordan when he was asked and it is clear evidence that he had contact with Gutierrez in connection with the case because there is a mention of Orietta Murdoch on it who said that Michael used a bleachign cream. Then there is a note about Brett being uncircumsized and Michael being circumsized. SInce it was all about “a theory” they met and tried to come up with what they thought Michael might look like so they could offer it to the ADA Lauren Weiss and the detectives because up until then all they had to go on was Jordan’s word against Michael’s. After the search that was still all they had to go on because there was no match.
As for the supposed “suicide picture” was used by the Chandlers for several reasons. Evan used it against June for custody and to show the emotional distress. If I was a cop and I saw these to pieces of paper the first thing I would do was arrest Evan Chandler for extortion and take Jordan away from him because of child endangerment.

“Neither Jordan nor Evan were suicidal nor homicicidal.” – kaarin

Let us not turn this discussion into something ridiculous. I didn’t mean to say that Jordan was really suicidal. Jordan is absolutely not a suicidal type and showed himself to be very balanced as his further interview with Dr. Gardner manifested it.

Like all children (remember Tom Sawyer from Mark Twain?) he could imagine it or threaten people with it but never mean it. It is all about manipulating the parents.

In contrast to him Evan was a suicidal type (as he himself later proved it). You said it yourself that bypolar patients have a higher rate of suicide. But at that moment in time (August 4th) he was terribly sure of himself and absolutely not depressed.

But he was depressed on August 24th or so, when Geraldine Hughes describes him as a nervous wreck and Ray Chandler says he was hysterical and on the verge of a breakdown. If the drawing was made (by Jordan) at that time then it could be about Evan.

I just wanted to summarize what we knew about that picture but as a result made it only worse – now there is such a big variety of opinion that it is difficult to really see the truth behind it.

These type of drawings spring from the uncoscious, therefore the primitive style. No one could have been that savy to “order” that kind of picture. You may find such in the confidential files of psych. departments only. But how on earth would they fit the the Evan, Jordan, Michael, June C. and Lily so perfectly? All 5 people finally affected by events to come.
The figure on the ground makes me think of Kafka´s Samsa (cannot recall the name of character exactly now). The one turned into an insect. So Evan wished, and in some haters mind it did happen, though of course many years after.

It is really too difficult to make a definitive conclusion on the basis of those two letters only. Especially since Evan could add that “NO” cartoon too (in addition to “Don’t let it happen” phrase). As a result we have a great variety of versions – much more than the basic three.

But even with so many of them there must be something in common embracing them all and we must be able to find it. Probably we need some time for all these impressions to settle and then the picture will become clearer.

“One thing is clear–neither Evan nor Jordan was suicidal at that time.” – aldebaranredstar

And to me another thing is clear – both of them could be suicidal (or at least very much depressed), but at different times.

Jordan could be after the August 4th meeting (when Evan said he would ruin Michael and Jordan realized how far the situation had gone and Evan could be suicidal on August 24th or 25th when he was hysterical in Rothman’s office after the news had broken on TV.

From here on we can make further conclusions. If it was really Evan’s handwriting, then it was most probably drawn after the August 4th meeting. In the drawing Evan described either a fictional terrible state of Jordan or his real suicidal threats (and his own attitude towards them – he didn’t want it to happen).

Initially he could make the drawing for his son and leave it beside his bed while he “left for work” as Taraborrelli put it. He wanted Jordan to see it first thing in the morning. This was his way of reassuring his son and preventing anything really bad from happening to him.

But then he used the drawing for other purposes – as an argument in a future lawsuit as proof of the “emotional damage” or something else (please explain yourself how the drawing could help the suit as I have a difficulty with it).

What is clear is that each of those people used that drawing for their own purposes.
    – Evan presented it as his son’s drawing, showed it to lawyers and used it for the lawsuit.
    – Gutierrez used it to explain a drama in that fictional “love affair” between Jordan and MJ
    – Ray Chandler explained it by Jordan’s fears of testifying at a trial (which was probably closest to the truth).

And though Ray Chandler said that his nephew was not suicidal, the fact that the drawing was still made (irrespective of its author) points to the fact that at that moment in time Jordan could indeed be in shambles.

The homicide drawing was by Jordan. Evan may have drawn the “private parts” drawing & the text. It is not easy for an adult(without looking at the homicide drawing) to make a drawing fast in that immature style. Now the o in “no” looks like Evans. My son´s handwriting looks almost exactly like his father’s, not at all like mine, so don´t draw too much of a conclusion from the one letter “o” on the homicide drawing. And why would Evan have depicted himself homicidal? That would be to admit that his bipolar was going to depression which indeed has a high suicide rate. All you in Evans then age range: Don´t look at the picture, copy it in the style with stickfigures and all, then compare your own result with the original by Jordan. In bipolar illness there is also a sc mixed state. The most difficult to handle and treat.

“One thing is clear–neither Evan nor Jordan was suicidal at that time.” – aldebaranredstar

It is interesting that we are coming to exactly the opposite conclusions. Evan was hysterical and in a state which frightened his brother Ray so much that he dropped everything and came to live with his brother for the next half a year. He is speaking about it with Larry King:

KING: How angry was your brother?

CHANDLER: Well, the whole thing — he was angry. I mean, how could you not be angry? You know, you’re the most vilified person in the world. He was a — the basic feeling going on at the time was a combination of anger and fear, tremendous fear.

    ….
KING: Then how much do you know about the events of 10 years ago?

CHANDLER: I was — I know a lot about the events of 10 years ago. When it first became public, it was August 17th, 1993. About three or four days later, I got a call from my brother he was crying. I’d never heard my brother cry. He is very strong man. He had just been beat up walking into his — in the lobby of his office building he’s a dentist. And he was crying, he was sobbing. I packed up — I live in Santa Barbara, he was in L.A. I packed up some close real quick, went down there. I was there for almost six months just before the settlement was signed in January of 1994.

KING: Do you think he was beat up in connection with hit?

CHANDLER: I don’t think — we don’t know — I wasn’t there. He — we believe it was actually tabloid media who did it. He got smacked in the back of the head. The guy in front of him had a camera. He thinks they were trying to slow him down, but he was really bruised. http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0311/25/lkl.00.html

Ray Chandler is describing the same thing that was witnessed by Geraldine Hughes. She also saw Evan Chandler (together with Jordan) after the news broke out in the media. The first time the news was reported on KNBC was the evening of August 23. So it must have been the next day when Evan was utterly hysterical – so hysterical that Ray Chandler had to come and stay with him.

You forget that Evan Chandler was ill. He was bipolar which is a sort of a swing between feeling on the top of the world and then feeling depressed to the point of being suicidal. In fact he did commit suicide, didn’t he?

The tendency to oversimplify things is as dangerous as the tendency to overanalyze them. No offense meant.

“I think you have a sight tendency is overanalyze to the point that you don’t see the forest for the trees sometimes. No offense.”

Aldebaran, as regards overanalyzing you are right. Sometimes I do, and the main reason is that I simply cannot understand that all this can be done for money. I simply cannot understand it and always look for other explanations.

“Evan drew the picture for the same reason he drew the other one (about Michael’s body) to get a big settlement out of MJ, i.e. to get a lot of $$$$. The drawing was supposed to show Jordan’s distress, which was part of the suit Feldman filed–emotional distress.”

First of all it is not yet clear by whom the second drawing was made. And second, even if it was only about money, there was no talk about filing a civil suit yet. It was August 5th only and 40 more days were to pass before that suit was filed at all.

In early August Evan was afraid of making the whole thing public, so why would he need making that drawing at that time is beyond me. Unless Jordan was extremely emotional immediately after that meeting with Michael on August 4th where he finally realized his father’s plans. And was really suicidal.

“And it really does come to something when even Guttierez and Ray Chandler can’t keep the accounts of events consistent lol”

Rodrigo, of course they cannot keep their accounts consistent because the whole 1993 case was a big Hollywood script. It is only in movies that everything looks consistent, while if you really look at what they invented there nothing will fit in.

I regard Ray Chandler’s book not as information but as a book of complete disinformation which was carefully structured though to present the Chandlers’ official version in the best possible light. Its gist was ready much earlier (after the 1994 settlement), but it was published in 2004 only and by then they had thought how to polish it and explain each of their earlier mistakes.

So our only chance is finding our way among all those inconsistencies (later corrected) and among the various accounts of the same events given by different people. The main thing to be borne in mind is that initially all of it was a big lie, so anything, just anything is possible here.

    This is my conclusion:

    1) either Jordan drew it, showing his fears of Evan’s path of destruction and how it would end and how he felt powerless to stop it.

    or

    2) Evan drew it in an effort to provide evidence of Jordan’s emotional distress, which would help the lawsuit. The fact that Evan admitted he wrote on it adds to the idea that he himself drew it. He just couldn’t leave it alone–he had to add his interpretation and that reveals how he was manipulating the drawing, as indeed he manipulated his son and everyone else.

Lynette, over here I not so sure. Before writing this I enlarged both drawings/notes and compared them letter by letter. My impression is somewhat different from yours. But we will return to it later. First we need to find the version explaining the ‘suicide’ drawing best of all.

Evan drew the picture for the same reason he drew the other one (about Michael’s body) to get a big settlement out of MJ, i.e. to get a lot of $$$$. The drawing was supposed to show Jordan’s distress, which was part of the suit Feldman filed–emotional distress. I think you have a sight tendency is overanalyze to the point that you don’t see the forest for the trees sometimes. No offense.

Evan had one purpose–one–to get a lot of money–to get rich–and he was using anything he could come up with to make a claim. They had no evidence, so they had to create it. They had no true narrative so they had to write it. There never was any molestation so they had to make it up. There was a single focus on the part of Evan, Rothman, and then Feldman to achieve their ends. These are totally unscrupuloius people.

One thing is clear–neither Evan nor Jordan was suicidal at that time.

“If you look closely at the word no in the “cartoon” part you will see that the n and the o are just like the n and the o in the other writing. That writing was done by Evan Chandler and so was the drawing.”

Lynette, this is interesting. The comparison does make it look like it is one and the same handwriting and then it means that the whole picture was made by Evan. There is still a slight possibility that Evan added a few things to the original picture by Jordan but this will make up a separate version then.

But if this was fully Evan’s drawing we need to explain the purpose of his making the picture. Why did Evan want to present Jordan as suicidal? What was he gaining by forging it?

Was it to show that Jordan had been so badly injured by “molestation” that he was on a verge of a suicide? But he never, ever voiced this version, so he wasn’t even thinking in this direction.

Was it simply due to his irresistible desire to add drama into everything he touched? Possible, considering that he was a script-writer dreaming of a Hollywood career. But didn’t he realize that the same picture could be understood as a heavy pressure he himself was exerting on his son, driving him into a suicidal state?

Is it because Evan realized his mistake that in 2004 Ray Chandler’s book (and Evan himself as a ghost writer of it) tried to dispel the idea that the picture was about a suicide?

But the question still remains – why did he make that drawing at all? Could it be because Jordan was really on the verge of a suicide and Evan drew it to show that he cared for his son, wanted to stop him from making the fatal step and therefore put the note beside his bed for him to see it first thing in the morning?

Lynande, I think that’s a great observation about the letters n and o being the same and it makes sense that Evan drew this as well as the other ridiculous drawing (where he wrote ‘my theory’ on it too). There was an interview with G. Hughes where she emphasized that everything was very planned in this shake-down of MJ. She did not believe the tooth extraction sodium amytal confession story either, she said it was all planned. So this drawing could have been part of the plan to show Jordan was upset in order to support Feldman’s civil suit.

The one thing they lacked was evidence, so they created it! These 2 people–Evan and Jordan–were screenwriters, or wannabe screenwriters, so just as they worked on Men in Tights they worked on this story.

However, even if Evan drew it, it is still a drawing we can analyze or interpret and I do think it’s a homicide drawing showing Evan’s extreme violence and the destruction that will come of it.

If Evan didn’t want everyone to think it was extortion he never should have admitted that he wrote on this drawing. It is clearly the same writing on the other drawing of the ” description” that is in the sidelines of that “drawing”. So we can assume that it was Evan that wrote the notes in the sideline of that other drawing too.Guess we answered two questions with this drawing. Evan had to take notes from someone to give to Jordan for the description and Evan drew the suicide picture too.

Just noticed that Lynette. The writing is very similar. I’ve always thought Evan’s writing was childish. For all we know it could be his drawing. It’s only from Evan’s account that Jordan was depressed after the meeting with Michael. I keep saying, that drawing played so well into his favour.

It would be a good idea to compare Jordan’s written description with that too.

“To check whether Geraldine saw Jordan on that day we simply need to ask her whether she did see him on August 4th or she did not.”

Why do you need to ask her when she says clearly in her book that the first time she saw Jordan was right before the meeting with Abrams on August 17th, some 13 days after August 4th?

Evan was not suicidal ever to my knowledge during the time. A suidical person is depressed, withdrawn, isolated, sad. Being agitated or upset or angry is not the same thing. When he did commit suicide in 2009 he was isolated, depressed, with no family around, no friends, and on top of that he was very ill. That is a very very different situation from 1993 and thereafter at least til his break with his son. IMO interpretation #3 makes no sense at all.

Evan was not suicidal and neither was Jordan!!!! I cannot understand how someone can go around threatening a massacre, which is clearly aggressive, violent, and hostile, and shows a tendency to homicide, and yet in your account this person is suicidal? Evan even attacked Dave Schwartz in Feldman’s office trying to strangle him.

BTW, re people who say stick figures are only for young kids, if you try and draw that scene with 3 dimensional figures it would take a long time, especially since it has so many figures in it (7). Stick figures are fast and easy.

And this was Bert Fields’ opinion of the Chandler case:

“Fields thinks that the father concocted the story and convinced his son that this was their one big chance to score. “I don’t believe them.” Then what did happen? “It could have happened many ways. It could be the father coaching the boy, supplemented by the police questioning—it could be a combination of both.” As for the mother and stepfather’s change of heart, Fields has a one-word explanation: “Money.”

I have retyped one more piece from Geraldine Hughes’s book. It is about Anthony Pellicano. He regarded the Chandler case as pure extortion and never doubted Michael’s innocence.

This piece should be sent to all those who fell for a recent provocation against Pellicano.
Geraldine Hughes spoke to Pellicano and says that he never backed down from his opinion that the case was pure extortion (and that Michael was innocent):

“I telephoned Mr. Pellicano and asked why he left the case. He told me he did not agree with the direction in which Mr. Weitzman was taking the case. He vehemently disagreed with the idea of settling with Dr. Chandler. He was angry at the thought of settlement and was fully convinced that if Michael Jackson would fight this out in court he would be exonerated. He further stated that he would have nothing to do with the settlement of this case. It was obvious that Mr. Pellicano was extremely angry and somewhat dismayed at the new direction in which the case was heading. He was genuinely upset that Dr. Chandler might get away with these charges and not be held responsible for his actions. Mr. Pellicano blatantly refused to pay what many felt was an extortion demand.
Mr. Pellicano never backed down from his opinion that this case was about extortion. He stated for the record in court documents that “I have made statements to the effect that Dr. Evan Chandler and Barry Rothman are extortionists, because in my opinion that is exactly what they are.” (page 61)

Let us not make any more mistakes in respect of Anthony Pellicano. He was and still is the staunchest defender of Michael’s innocence.

“to all the naysayers out there I say that there was just as much if not more evidence to support the charge of extortion against Evan than they think. ..the police dropped the charges because Michael dropped the charges as part of the settlement agreement”. – lynande51

No doubt about it. The police closed the case immediately after Michael withdrew his charges. They were obliged to continue with them even if he stopped accusing Evan Chandler of extortion, but they were only too happy to drop the charges after the agreement was reached. The extortion charges were withdrawn the day before the settlement was announced (January 26, 1994).

Let me quote Pellicano once again. It shows how critical of closing the extortion case he was:

January 25, 1994|JIM NEWTON | TIMES STAFF WRITER

Amid signs that a lawsuit accusing Michael Jackson of sexually molesting a young boy may soon be settled, prosecutors announced Monday that they will not bring charges against the boy’s father, whom Jackson and his advisers claimed tried to extort money from the entertainer.

… In an interview Monday, Pellicano sharply disputed the argument that the discussions were intended to settle a claim out of court.

“All during the conversations with Barry Rothman, he was stating that ‘unless we get what we want, we’re going to blow the lid off, we’re going to go to the press, we’re going to ruin him,’ ” Pellicano said. “That’s a threat. I can’t interpret that anyway but a threat.”

…Although the announcement by the district attorney’s office and the reports of an impending settlement in the civil case appeared almost simultaneously, prosecutors said that was a coincidence.

“The rejection would have been issued last week but for the earthquake,” Montagna said. “There is no relation.”

Pellicano–who no longer works for Jackson but who still fiercely proclaims the entertainer’s innocence and opposes any effort to settle the civil case–scoffed at that and suggested that prosecutors and lawyers in the civil case are orchestrating an effort to dismiss all the cases.
“If you believe that,” he said of Montagna’s comments, “I’ll sell you some bayou land.”

Yes I have never believed that this drawing belonged to Jordan. I think it was an adult that manufactured it and put on it what he wanted to say. Evan wasn’t completely honest with Barry Rothman either from the sound of it or else that was part of the plan because when Rothman sued MJ, Pellicano and Fields he makes it sound like he didn’t know any of this. Except in Geraldline Huges book and in this one you can find the letter that Mathis Abrams wrote to Rothman (not Evan Chandler) in response to a “hypothetical situation” that was taking place and they had contacted him by phone. That letter is in the book as well so how do they say that he called him before he even had custody of Jordan and then suddenly they got the answer the very same day they say that Jordan “confessed” to Evan. So to all the naysayers out there I say that there was just as much if not more evidence to support the charge of extortion against Evan than they think. Then in the settlement and in other articles that I have read even though the police dropped the charges they did it because Michael dropped the charges as part of the settlement agreement. Read it again carefully and you will see that it says that Michael Jackson withdraws any accusation of wrongdoing on the part of the minor and Evan Chandler. The accusation of extortion was what settled the case for negligence because Feldman said that they accused Jordan not Evan when they were in court to speed up the trial. It was part of the settlement negotiations as well.

Guys, since my memory is terribly failing me I had to clarify the dates once again.

According to Geraldine Hughes Jordan went to see Dr. Abrams on August 17, 1993 after which the case was reported to the authorities. The criminal investigation opened on August 17 too, but the media frenzy started only on August 23. On August 20 Michael left on a tour. Pellicano went together with him. The search of Neverland and Hideout took place on August 21 and 22 in the absence of Michael and Pellicano.

    Quote from Lisa Campbell:

The boy’s claims were unsubstantiated, however, his accusations did prompt the Los Angeles police department to open an investigation on August 17, 1993, and to serve search warrants on Michael’s Neverland Valley Ranch and his condo in Century City, on August 21 and 22. Michael was not home at the time of the search, having already flown to Bangkok for the kick off of the tour.

It is also interesting how Pellicano describes the tender scene between Evan Chandler. Jordan and Michael (Maureen Orth calls Jordan “Jamie”). Pellicano says that Evan was shorter than Michael and not only hugged him and kissed him, but closed his eyes when pressing his head on his chest:

“Pellicano’s version of the August 4 meeting differs totally from that of Jamie’s side.

The father began to read the psychiatrist’s letter, which cited the criminal statutes that applied to child abuse. “Jamie was looking down, and he pops his head up and looks at Michael like ‘I didn’t say that.’ That kind of look.”

“I thought Pellicano, commented on how detached Jordan was too , when he spoke to him , saying his dad wanted money and he wanted to get back to the video games., when he interviewed him at the hideout.” – Nannoris

I also remembered Pellicano say it but cannot find the source for it now. However I found Pellicano describing the scene in Maureen Orth’s article “Nightmare in Neverland” dated January 1994. Over here he does not speak about Jordan wanting to play video games, but it is still interesting:

According to Pellicano, Jamie told him a lot in 45 minutes. “He’s a very bright, articulate, intelligent, manipulative boy.” Pellicano, who has fathered nine children by two wives, says he asked Jamie many sexually specific questions. “And I’m looking dead into his eyes. And I’m watching in his eyes for any sign of fear or anticipation—anything. And I see none,” Pellicano says. “And I keep asking him, ‘Did Michael ever touch you?’ ‘No.’ ‘Did you ever see Michael nude?’ ‘No.’ He laughed about it. He giggled a lot, like it was a funny thing. Michael would never be nude… . ‘Did you and Michael ever masturbate?’ ‘No.’ ‘Did Michael ever masturbate in front of you?’ ‘No.’ ‘Did you guys ever talk about masturbation?’ ‘No.’

“‘So you never saw Michael’s body?’ ‘One time, he lifted up his shirt and he showed me those blotches.'” Then Pellicano asked Jackson to come downstairs.

“And I sit Michael next to him and go through exactly the same thing,” he says. Pellicano claims they both maintained that nothing happened, and Jamie began to disparage his father. “He’s talking to me about his father never wanting to let him be a boy and never wanting to let him do the things he wants to do. ‘He wants me to stay in the house and write these screenplays.’ … And he said to me several times during this conversation, ‘He just wants money.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?'” Then, Pellicano claims, Jamie told him the story, confirmed by Michael, that when Michael was over at his father’s house his father told Michael he really didn’t have the room for him to stay there. “Why don’t you build me an addition?” Then he went and checked with the zoning board, and he couldn’t put the addition on, “so he asked Michael just to build him a whole new house.” Larry Feldman, Jamie’s attorney, calls this story “ludicrous and factually incorrect. I checked with the zoning board, and there are no such restrictions.” Pellicano says he also learned that the dentist wanted to close down his practice and get involved in screenplays with Michael.

“Geraldine Hughes’ first meeting with Jordan occurred right before he saw Dr. Abrams on August 16th.” – aldebaranredstar

Yes, true. So Geraldine saw Jordan within a span of a few days – first before he went to Dr. Abrams and then some time after the news broke out in the media (August 23). I corrected the text which previously said that there was a big period of time in between those two visits.

“the boy, says Pellicano, put his head down and then looked up at Jackson with a surprised expression, as if to say “I didn’t say that.””

I agree, we should not leave Ray Chandler’s lies unattended, so I broke his account and included this piece from Mary Fischer to correct his lies. We know what Pellicano said, but it doesn’t mean that all others do, so it never hurts to repeat the truth just one more time.

“Fisher says the meeting in Rothman’s office took place on August 4th “later that evening.” I doubt Jordan would be there as this was a serious negotiation over $$. In any case, G. Hughes would have gone home by that time.”

To check whether Geraldine saw Jordan on that day we simply need to ask her whether she did see him on August 4th or she did not. Can anyone who knows Geraldine Hughes well check up with her? She may not answer a mere stranger like me. And it is probably better to ask her the question before explaining to her how important the answer is. It may not change her answer anyway as she is surely a very truthful person, but will add much more credibility to her answer for the naysayers.

However simple logic prompts us that unless Geraldine was absent that day she should have seen Jordan (if he really came to the office with his father). It was Wednesday, a working day, and the meeting at a hotel was very short and must have taken place in the morning or the first part of the day. Then Evan Chandler went back to Barry Rothman to sort out things with him (and discuss the $20 mln he wanted), and when they were almost through with it, Pellicano called to express his surprise why they had left so abruptly. Barry Rothman invited him to his office and it should have also taken Pellicano some time to get there.

Ray Chandler says that “Evan and Jordan left before Pellicano’s arrival”. After that Pellicano stayed sometime with Rothman and it was then that Barry Rothman voiced the figure of $20 mln. to him.

And all of it was AFTER the working hours? Jordan and Evan arriving after 6 p.m. (?), then discussing things for several hours with Rothman, then Pellicano being on the way, and then the two of them (Pellicano and Rothman) discussing it deep into the night?

Possible of course, but it is still better to ask Geraldine Hughes.

Geraldine Hughes’ first meeting with Jordan occurred right before he saw Dr. Abrams on August 16th. She suspected that Jordan was being coached by Rothman before that meeting. “This meeting between Mr. Rothman and the Chandler boy took place just before the boy was taken to see the psychiatrist who later reported the sexual molestation charges against Michael Jackson. The second time I met the 13-year old boy was after the child molestation allegations hit the media.” So in both cases, Hughes met Jordan well after the Aug. 4th date.

This is what Mary A. Fisher says in her “Was Michael Jackson Framed” article about the August 4th meeting:

“At this point, there still had been made no demands or formal accusations, only veiled assertions that had become intertwined with a fierce custody battle. On August 4, 1993, however, things became very clear. Chandler and his son met with Jackson and Pellicano in a suite at the Westwood Marquis Hotel. On seeing Jackson, says Pellicano, Chandler gave the singer an affectionate hug (a gesture, some say, that would seem to belie the dentist’s suspicions that Jackson had molested his son), then reached into his pocket, pulled out Abrams’s letter and began reading passages from it. When Chandler got to the parts about child molestation, the boy, says Pellicano, put his head down and then looked up at Jackson with a surprised expression, as if to say “I didn’t say that.” As the meeting broke up, Chandler pointed his finger at Jackson, says Pellicano, and warned “I’m going to ruin you.”

At a meeting with Pellicano in Rothman’s office later that evening, Chandler and Rothman made their demand – $20 million.”

    http://www.usnewslink.com/framedjackson.htm

There was no extortion charge hanging over Evan on August 4th. The parties were in negotiation for money for screenplays to prevent the threats of charges of molestation that Eavn was making. Fisher says the meeting in Rothman’s office took place on August 4th “later that evening.” I doubt Jordan would be there as this was a serious negotiation over $$. In any case, G. Hughes would have gone home by that time.

That is a good point, about JC being too old for stick figures..Maybe it is his younger brothers comment on how he sees the situation..I suppose his father was just as hysterical and distraught at the house as he was in a lawyers office
Maybe he saw Evan saying he was suicidal and JC saying “please dont”..
Evan still could have written , dont let this happen on the paper , as if to show JC just how distraught his entire family was..
If JC didnt go along with this, Evan was going to jail , or worse. It was up to JC to back his father up, particularly after it went public,
Evan life would be over if JC said he was falsely accusing someone as beloved as MJ.
Interesting , by way of the Untouchable book, that JC and Evan took off after they got the money and Evan never bothered with his other children again..
I still can not wrap my mind around JC comment in the FBI files…”I did my part”, no angst about MJ out there supposedly accosting a cancer patient or even , a conscience of having him subjected to this all over again , because of their accusations..
I would love to know exactly what caused Evan to try and kill him after the conclusion of the 2005 trial.
I thought Pellicano, commented on how detached Jordan was too , when he spoke to him , saying his dad wanted money and he wanted to get back to the video games., when he interviewed him at the hideout..
At 13, I would think , anyone would realize the damage his father was doing to MJ..
Didnt ray Chandler move in 2 days after the accusations went public, to start making notes for the book “All that Glitters”?
I would think he would have his dates right unless he was purposely lying., about them.

If they did they wanted it to look like Jordan’s suicide note and we should look among those who were interested in this version of the events.
