Conrad Murray’s guilt has been proven. Why does the media pretend that it has not?

November 7, 2011

While we are waiting for the jury to decide Murray’s fate let me tell you about one thing which surprises me most.

During this trial the truth was established with a precision only true science is capable of.

The anesthesiologist Dr. Shafer, cardiologist Dr. Steinberg, toxicologist Dr. Andersen, coroner Dr. Rogers and lots of other scientists who were simply doing their work by researching propofol helped to find out that Conrad Murray was telling huge lies about the night of June 25, 2009.

He lied to everyone that he had given only 25ml of this drug but science provided undeniable proof that he had administered to Michael more than 200ml of it. The method Dr. Shafer used is undisputable and is supported not only by the study made in the year of 2002 but by all earlier studies as well.

The researchers found that propofol practically does not leave the body through kidneys and goes into the urine in tiny quantities. For propofol to be found in the urine the infusion of it into  the blood should be really big.

And since more than 80 micrograms of propofol were found in Michael’s bladder the dose  he received should be no less than 200ml.

As simple as that.

It also turns out that this amount of propofol fully coincides with the number of empty vials found on the crime scene. One empty 100 vial was hidden in the closet and found there inside a saline bag, and five more empty and half-empty 20ml vials were found in other Murray’s bags hidden in the same closet.

Everything has come a full circle and all the evidence is fitting in.

Conrad Murray was lying to us all along when he repeated  his fairy tale about “trying to wean Michael of propofol for the past three nights”.

He had not tried to wean Michael of anything. He was the first to tell Michael that it was safe to have propofol at home and gave him huge doses of it in a totally criminal way he did – he simply made holes in the vials and the fluid dropped uncontrollably into Michael’s body. The only way to check the speed of it was a roller clamp on the tubing which for a drug like propofol is a method too crude  to employ.

Propofol is an anesthetic where each drop counts. One extra drop can turn moderate sedation (with natural breathing) into general anesthesia (when breathing stops and death ensues) – so the way Murray administered propofol manually and in the absence of a precision dosing electronic device is a separate crime of its own.

But now comes the point which surprises me most.

I can more or less understand that the jury is having a difficulty with the scientific findings presented to them at the trial. No one can guarantee to us that the jury is made up of people who studied well at school. Now in hindsight it is clear that given the specifics of the case only educated people should have been selected to the jury and should have taken a test before it.

But what surprises me most is that the media is also pretending that they do not understand it. The media are supposed to be well-educated people and it is impossible to imagine that they – with a whole army of experts at their disposal – could not have grasped that Murray’s guilt was proven by scientific methods and by one hundred percent too.

If the media wanted to tell the public the truth about Murray’s, now they would be using the spare time before the verdict for inviting experts to their studios and educating their viewers on how science managed to prove the amount of propofol Murray administered to Michael. They could be explaining the matter to the general public in simple terms – by means of pictures, drawings or computer animations.

But they are not doing anything like that.

Instead they are putting up a show called “an unbiased approach” pretending that Murray’s case is difficult to decide and each side has some truth behind it, and it is not yet clear on whose side more truth will be found.

However the truth is only one here. Murray lied to everyone including the police and concealed the facts that he had been uncontrollably infusing Michael with huge doses of propofol, had been speaking on the phone while “monitoring” his patient and simply hadn’t noticed that his patient died.

And since the trial was supposed to simply prove gross negligence on the part of Murray it did prove this gross negligence so well that from now on Murray’s name will be a dictionary word for it.

But the media keeps pretending that it is deaf and blind, “does not yet know” and instead of educating people on the basics of the case gives venue to Murray’s supporters who keep telling us how “good a doctor” Conrad Murray is and how “friendly” he was with Michael Jackson.

Some gullible guys will probably believe these fairy tales but the rest of the world won’t.

We find ourselves in a unique situation when due to the trial broadcast live the people the world over were able to learn the truth about Conrad Murray’s case directly – without it being retold to us by the media. And this also gives us a unique chance to test the media’s credibility and how objective they are.

One would expect that in these circumstances they wouldn’t take the risk of telling their flagrant lies or distorting the truth.

However you are amazed to see that this is exactly what they are doing.

I wonder what they and everyone else will do if the jury does not understand that Murray’s guilt has been proven scientifically.

Will the media lie to us that he is not guilty or that no truth has been found?

We have heard and seen it with our own eyes, but they will tell us we should believe them instead?

I hope it never comes to it.

But  whatever the result is the media has already shown its true worth.

I remember how there were photos of Mesereau with women circulated in magazines and discussion about his sex life. It was ridiculous.

I’ve listened to Thomas Mesereau at http://mjjiff.org/ and was surprised by the same unscrupulous way the media behaved during the 2005 and 2011 trials.

In 2005 when Michael was on trial Thomas Mesereau said that during the week the jury deliberated all cable TV channels showed jail cells non-stop – which was a way to influence the jury to CONVICT Michael.

And during the several days we were waiting for the jury’s verdict in Murray’s 2011 case the TV showed various episodes meant to influence the jury to ACQUIT Michael’s KILLER.

Murray’s witnesses resurfaced again speaking of him as a good doctor, Murray’s photos with a child were shown to squeeze the jury’s tears for the poor kid to be raised without his father and the taped of Michael’s slurred speech was again replayed, meant to show that he was an “addict” who would have died anyway. No one explained that it was actually Murray who was drugging Michael night after night – instead all focus was on the terrible patient who induced the poor doctor to kill him. And all this craziness took place instead of explaining to the public that the prosecution case was proven and that Murray was guilty like hell.

So no matter which case the jury was deliberating the media had only ONE PERSON TO ACCUSE – Michael Jackson.

Thomas Mesereau said about the 2005 trial:

“I’ve never seen a media onslaught in any criminal case this bad. I don’t know if you remember it – the week the jury was deliberating ALL the cable stations were showing the jail cells on TV every day, where he was supposed to end up.

The intent was to condition the jury and hopefully to influence them to convict. I’ve never seen it in any other case. If any of you have ever seen jail cells on TV every day on major cable station while the jury is deliberating the case, tell me what it was because I never have. I never have.

And the documentaries on TV leading up to that trial and the reports on the 1993 case were absolutely scandalous, disturbing and horrific, designed to do one thing and one thing only – convict.”

“One thing I learned very quickly is that the media tried to undermine me and tried to put me in a compromising position if they could. … The media just could not find me. I avoided the media like the plague”.

“Because the people who have the ability to influence the thinking of millions use it to promote their personal prejudices, dislikes and disappointment at Murray’s conviction”.

Dial, but I cannot believe even for a second that these journalists do not understand that Murray is guilty like hell! If a similar thing had taken place in a hospital and the patient had been left there under propofol unattended for hours – because the doctor needed to make several phone calls, – would these journalists be saying the same? It is totally crazy! All these people must be pretending and doing what they are told to do by their bosses.

Because once again Michael is “acquitted” when they have worked to have it otherwise.”

The question is why they have worked so hard to have it otherwise? Why do they regard Michael Jackson as their number 1 enemy even after his death? Are they afraid of him or what?

    Lynette,

I sure hope so hope. I had to listen several times to insure I heard Steinberg make that so slight correction to his question as to whom Drew felt sorry for; make sure I wasn’t projecting. I knew then he picked up on Drew’s state of mind and his inability to be professional.

    Ashley commented on another topic:

“It’s absolutely disturbing how many words of Praise toward Conrad Murray I have read recently since his conviction and since his recent sentencing.”

I am seeing more of this as well. Why? Because the people who have the ability to influence the thinking of millions use it to promote their personal prejudices, dislikes and disappointment at Murray’s conviction. Because once again Michael is “acquitted” when they have worked to have it otherwise.

@ Dialdancer. Dr. Drew Pinsky must have forgotten who Dr. Steinberg is for a moment. He is after all on the California Medical Board as a reviewer. That comment that he felt sorry for Conrad Murray and talked about addiction instead (because that is what he says he does) might just come back and bit him in the butt. When he referred to the Doctors in Florida that practice this kind of medicine all the time I liked when Dr. Steinberg said “and you think that’s okay”? That was his own undoing right there as far Dr. Steinberg is concerned. I bet you anything his license to preach at other doctors and an unsuspecting public will soon be over. A good question for people to start asking is why HLN had him cover the trial. He was supposed to help people with the difficult science and yet he never did anything of the sort. His job going in was to harp on Michael being an addict plain and simple. You can tell it from the minute he started. Did he ever say anything brilliant about the science? No he did not! So did he and does he have a specific agenda. Who is it that is blaming the victim now? This was not a case of a doctor over prescribing a narcotic pain reliever and that person overdosed on them. I doubt to this day that he even gets that it was Murray that supplied, transported to his house and then administered the propofol (which no one outside a medical setting has access to) and then he killed him. He never responds to those comments or questions what he does is interrupt and start on his addiction gravy train which at the moment Michael is driving.
What I saw this morning that show us what direction the media is going to go with Michael is a yahoo headline. It seem that Michaels kids weren’t excited enough to be watching Michael Jackson night on the X factor. The gossip rags are already after them negatively. Go look at it .This is why Michael did not want those kids doing promos for that family. Maybe that guardian ad litem needs to step in and contain some of these appearances.

Aphrodite Jones Reports: The Verdict Is In – Guilty! Michael Jackson’s Other Doctor Lends His Thoughts On The Verdict And His Dear Friend, November 07, 2011

“A personal friend and physician of Michael Jackson, Dr. Patrick Treacy offers his thoughts on the Dr. Conrad Murray trial and the verdict that was reached today.

01-patrick-treacy-324×205 The jury in the trial of The People v Conrad Murray have just returned a Guilty verdict. While it is sad to see another doctor incarcerated for a period of many years, I feel that Dr. Murray was indeed guilty of not providing an adequate standard of medical care and his reckless behaviour and neglectful actions led directly to the death of another human being, who was also a father, brother, son and in my personal instance a friend”.

The article has several videos some of which you may have already seen.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Monday, November 7, 2011; 11:15 p.m.

It appears that the exploitation of Michael Jackson for ratings and profits shamelessly continues. It is absolutely abhorrent & self-serving that, a once well-regarded company, like NBC Universal would agree to reward a criminal for killing a human being.

In the immediate aftermath of the Conrad Murray verdict, The Hollywood Reporter today provided details of Murray’s documentary, “Michael Jackson and the Doctor—A Fatal Friendship.”

This documentary is already in the can and scheduled to air this week, starting Tuesday morning with a preview on NBC’s Today Show.

The Michael Jackson fan community and supporters MUST mobilize to obstruct this atrocity—just as we did the Discovery Channel autopsy documentary. We succeeded then and we can succeed now.

However, this time we don’t have as much time because the documentary is scheduled to air in full this coming Friday, November 11 on MSNBC and will repeat Sunday, November 13 on that same cable network.

We urge Michael’s fans to utilize every mode of communication possible—call, write, fax, tweet—to express their outrage and disapproval of Murray and his handlers profiting from the death of Michael Jackson. With so little time, our approaches to obstruct this documentary are limited.

Jackson fans, family see justice in doctor’s guilty verdict

By Martin Kasindorf, Special for USA TODAY
    Nov 7, 2011

LOS ANGELES – The conviction Monday of Conrad Murray in the death of Michael Jackson ended a lengthy trial that exposed not only the extreme measures Jackson used to get to sleep but also the sad final days of the star as he worked desperately to make a comeback.

Murray, 58, a cardiologist, showed no emotion as the court clerk read a verdict of guilty on one count of involuntary manslaughter in the medication-overdose death, concluding the rare prosecution of a physician after a patient died. Murray’s mother also had no visible reaction. A shriek came from La Toya Jackson, the singer’s sister.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor denied a motion by Murray’s chief counsel, Ed Chernoff, to let the doctor remain free on his existing $75,000 bail until sentencing Nov. 29. “Dr. Murray’s reckless conduct in this case poses a demonstrable risk to the safety of the public,” Pastor said.

Murray was handcuffed behind his back and led into custody through a side door. As he left, he nodded and murmured a few words to his mother and five friends.

Chernoff said later that the verdict would be appealed. Sentencing possibilities range from probation to four years behind bars. Because of a recent change in state law, Murray probably will serve his time, if any, in a county jail.

The conviction means Murray will automatically have his California medical license suspended, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said at a news conference after the brief court session. Cooley said he hoped the other states where Murray is licensed to practice medicine — Nevada, Texas and Hawaii — will do the same.

Filing out of court, Jackson family members hugged prosecutor David Walgren and co-prosecutor Deborah Brazil. Matriarch Katherine Jackson kissed Brazil on the cheek.
“Justice!” the entertainer’s sister Rebbie and brother Jermaine shouted as they left the courthouse. Jermaine Jackson pumped his left fist and gave the V-for-victory sign.

On the street, fans cheered and car horns were honked.

The jury of seven men and five women reached its decision at midmorning on the second day of deliberations, after spending eight hours and 34 minutes considering the evidence. Pastor submitted the case to the jury late Thursday after 22 days of testimony from 49 witnesses.

The 340 exhibits of evidence included a poignant recording Murray had made on his cellphone. A heavily sedated Jackson is heard voicing his hopes that a series of concerts in London would establish him as the “greatest entertainer in the world” and would enable him to finance a children’s hospital.

The verdict held Murray responsible for Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009, from an overdose of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol, aggravated by effects of the sedative lorazepam.

The jury accepted Walgren’s arguments that Murray’s conduct went beyond malpractice, causing death through criminal negligence and “egregious, unethical and unconscionable” violations of medical standards.Walgren said Murray acted criminally in using propofol to treat Jackson’s insomnia. The setting in Jackson’s upstairs bedroom was inappropriate and lacked the required monitoring and resuscitation equipment, Walgren said.

Prosecution witnesses testified that Murray delayed for 20 minutes in asking a security guard to call 911, performed CPR improperly, tried to hide evidence and failed to tell rescue personnel he had administered propofol to Jackson.

Murray, who did not take the stand, told police two days after Jackson died that he had administered propofol intravenously at Jackson’s request nightly for two months. At the time, Jackson was preparing for a comeback — 50 concerts under the title “This Is It” — after 10 years off the stage.

Anesthesiologist Steven Shafer, an expert on propofol, testified for the prosecution that Jackson probably died from a three-hour intravenous drip of propofol, running continuously through the moment of death.

Paul White, the defense’s anesthesiology expert, said Jackson self-injected the fatal propofol and swallowed a deadly quantity of lorazepam pills while Murray was away from the bedside. Walgren said throughout the trial that Murray still would be culpable if that happened because he provided the medications in a dangerous setting and “abandoned” Jackson, leaving him with access to potent drugs.

Murray told police he left Jackson for two minutes to use the bathroom, returning to find his patient not breathing. Cellphone records showed Murray was phoning and e-mailing for 45 minutes around the time Jackson died. Among people listed in the cellphone records were three girlfriends.

Only a few doctors in the USA, including suicide assister Jack Kevorkian, have been charged with homicide. Cooley, asked whether he had filed the case just because the alleged victim was Michael Jackson, said no. “This one,” he said of the Jackson case, “takes on a viral, international dimension because of the celebrity status of the victim, but that just comes with the territory.”

Two years and four months after Jackson’s death, the jury decided that the death was a crime.

Guys, we knew it would be like this, didn’t we? It is only the scope of it and speed with which they are reacting which is surprising.

The media’s obsession with Michael Jackson and their ferocious desire to portray him in the dirtiest colors possible shows that their preoccupation with him is wholly unnatural. Michael is not “simply news” to them and their ratings are a secondary matter here – now it is the media’s whole system of lies which is at stake.

I have no doubt that what we are dealing with is a huge AEG’s publicity machine working full time for Murray now. It is the same machine which usually promotes artists before their tours and shows. Only now it is promoting their new artist – Conrad Murray. Previously they presented him as a “good doctor” and now it is time to portray him as a sacrificial lamb and an innocent victim of the “justice system”.

Why are they doing it? Because they don’t want Murray to tell the real truth about the several months preceding Michael’s death and their own involvement in it. Or he may have been playing a even much more sinister role in it.

Now they will give him every chance to offer us any surrogate of the truth – we will hear one lie after another and I am afraid that the stream of lies against Michael now will turn into a real torrent. The added advantage of allowing Murray to lie full scale is that IF he ever decides to tell the truth about AEG no one will believe him after he compromises himself too much.

And all Murray’s lies will naturally be focused on setting up Michael and showing himself as an “innocent sacrifial lamb”.

Let us not forget that AEG is a major media player – it has not only entertainment and sports arenas but newspapers and telecommunications systems as well as well-established ties with the media in promoting shows, sports events, etc.

AEG does not give a damn for Murray but they are busy saving their own back.

You were wondering why for the past 2 years Murray was enjoying the publicity no other criminal was having? And why he is so unnaturally calm?
Because he knows that everything is only just starting.

Guys, I was recording MSNBC’s coverage of the verdict, and Bashir flat out DISSED Mesereau! Look at what he said about him to legal analyst Jamie Floyd:

Bashir: Jamie, if I could start with you, Ed Chertoff, defense attorney or Conrad Murray, repeatedly said “This is not a reality show. This is reality. And you must not find his doctor guilt of actions perpetrated by Michael Jackson.” How effective was Ed Chertoff?

Jamie Floyd: I think he was extremely effective, not a celebrity attorney of the sort that we might have expected to see in this case.

Bashir: Like a Mark Geragos or Thomas Mesereau!

So Bashir is trying to say that Mesereau is nothing more than an ambulance chaser! It’s an insult not only to Mesereau, but to almost ANY lawyer to be compared to Mark Geragos!

Can you help spread that quote through the fan community? Thanks!

While most of the media is so “deaf and blind” and we are waiting for the verdict, I would like to share with you one of the positive steps in form of this article on the Huffington Post:

Guys, can I ask you to post here information about the verdict as soon as it is brought in?
My mobile internet is barely working, so it seems I’ll be the last to know.

it angers me when i come across a very stupid and ignorant comments made by haters and specially the ones who still say michael jackson killed himself! and (btw nothing has came up in court to prove this)! and also say conrad is a very good doctor! its clear these people have not been following the trial i mean the trial has already shown us how “good” of a doctor conrad was to michael from other doctors anlysis. they have clearly not been following the trial but still feel their opinion still counts on the subject they have not even looked in. other than seen on front covers of a tabloid so these certain individuals create a different reality for them selves when it comes to michael to fit their sick and very stupid minds!

“From some sites so far this is more like a popularity contest than search for the truth.”

This is the horror of it. People are talking of Murray being guilty or not as if there was an option of Murray’s innocence – while science has proved that he is 100% guilty!

There is simply no question of it and no amount of speculation over it can help those who support Murray. If some don’t understand it so much the worse for them. It will be these people’s total shame and disgrace if they deny the obvious and when facing the truth, select lies instead.

Please read the prosecutions witnesses first because Dr.White´s testimony will give you a headache if you try to follow it.

Kaarin, I am beginning to think that it is necessary to rewrite the post about Dr. White. The initial goal was to present his testimony as neutrally as possible but now I see that it is not working. It seems that each of his statements needs a comment and an explanation why it is a lie. I’ve rewritten a couple of things to focus people’s attention on his most flagrant inaccuracies but not the whole of it yet.

“is doing what they always did, creating controversy around Michael to ratings and they will probably never stop.”

Even for the ratings the media could have used the difference between real science and Dr. White’s theory – and it would still be a fascinating competition between the two.

But in order to do so the media should have explained the scientific gist of the matter.

Instead they are presenting a distorted view of the trial on the very basic level of it. Murray was a friend, Murray is a good doctors to others, Murray helps the poor, Murray is shown with his child… They are appealing to people’s emotions and want to evoke compassion for him.

Only in all this soap opera the media is forgetting that Michael’s three children were left orphans and that a healthy 50 year old man died in the hands of this “good doctor”. And died not due to some grave complications which were beyond Murray’s control – but due to him simply not paying attention to his patient and speaking on the phone most of the time.

“There is no reason to presume the jury isn’t smart enough to comprehend the scientific aspects of the case. At least one of the jurors is a scientist.”

Since it is taking them so long to decide we are safe to presume that there is at least one person there who isn’t smart enough to see the truth. And who is also stubborn enough not to believe others when they explain to him the point he is missing. It is even interesting to see how long it takes the others to teach this guy the school program.

I am happy to hear that there is a scientist there – wherever you look science seems to be the only and last bastion still able to stand for the truth.

This situation should be a great incentive for young fans of Michael Jackson to study well!

“It’s frustrating and nerve-wracking for those of us waiting for a guilty verdict, but there’s no reason to give up just yet.”

Since Murray’s guilt has been proven there is only one reason for frustration – if it is a “hung” jury, those who were listening only to the media will still think that Michael was to blame for his death.

This is the real reason why the media is not covering the scientific side of this trial. They still want Michael to be responsible for everything done to him and still don’t want the public to know the truth.

Denying people the opportunity to understand the scientific side of this trial is just another way of harassing Michael Jackson – only now it is done in an extremely stealthy form. And if the media does not explain to the public the gist of the Murray matter we cannot expect the public to do it on their own.

Hence the same old ignorance which was humbling and humiliating Michael all his life.

This trial was meant to teach people to start thinking at last, but if they don’t learn how to, there will be no breakthrough changes in understanding Michael Jackson.

“one is presumed innocent until proven guilty”

Carm, this is exactly the paradox of the situation. Murray has been proven guilty and we have seen it with our own eyes. Why it is taking the jury so long to see the point is what makes it strange.

And I don’t expect the media to pronounce a guilty verdict on Murray – what I expect of them is to explain to the general public in plain terms what Dr. Shafer has proved.

Just explain and not pretend that the case is still unclear.

By the way they can similarly cover the theory of Dr. White and show that he was referring to an outdated article (which he didn’t even read). And again it won’t be pronouncing Murray guilty before the jury does so. It will be just clarifying the science of it.

Murray will be found guilty. Only the media is ever surprised at what juries decide. People actually watching the trials never are.
It has only been a day. They probably spent half of it going through jury instructions.
I am not worried at all.

Media loves controversy–it’s what keeps them going. Also, one is presumed innocent until proven guilty–they may fear being criticized of bias before the verdict is read, if they support one side over the other. Even though to us it seems ridiculous.
I personally don’t understand why this went to trial at all. It was known even before the trial that Murray was not following the standard of care and that should automatically make him responsible. Just like in 2005 the authorities knew the Arviso’s had a checkered past but allowed a trial to take place anyway.
It will be very revealing to see how the media reacts to the final verdict.

A bit of correction;I would not hesitate to include a visit by Murray. It was a way of avoiding Murray on the stand and still slip some distortion into the story.

Anybody interested in the truth can see it in the testimonies of the exellent special experts witnesses,Drs Steinberg,Kamangar and especially Dr.Shafer. Pay special attention to the study 2002 that Dr.Shafer refers to.It nails down what happened 6/25 2009,and proves that Michael got over 2000 mgs of propofol infused to him by drip. It also points to Michael having been asleep when the propofol hit the level to cause apnea and within c. 10 min his heart stopped.

Dr.White was hired by the defence to muddle the waters. He was not prepared, presumed this or that or thought maybe. That was exactly his role. Please read the prosecutions witnesses first because Dr.White´s testimony will give you a headache if you try to follow it. It was so poor had it been a lecture to med, students or nurses he could have put the whole class to sleep without propofol. He stayed at Flanagans house and I would not hesitate to exclude a visit by Murray there. The jury will be lost for sure if they try to make sense of it.

Then he goes for heartattack. Well that may sit well with lay people as heartattack is often assumed to be the cause for sudden death. Now propofol is not cardiotoxic and not so toxic overall,it is even given to babies for full anestesia. It inhibits the breathing center in the brain and causes sedation and anestesia in higher amounts. As mentioned in article above one would at least expect people in the media to have sufficient education to interpret the science.

The science may be a problem for the jury. They need a basic knowledge of the human physiology, to know the metric system and calculators. Was this foreseen in jury selection. From some sites so far this is more like a popularity contest than search for the truth.
